You don’t have to worry about Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers getting fat and out of shape this offseason.
Rodgers said on Friday he has lost 10 to 12 pounds due mainly to a better diet.
“After the Super Bowl and all that stuff, I probably had got into the low 230s, which is not abnormal,” Rodgers said during a radio interview with ESPN Milwaukee’s Steve “The Homer” True on Friday. “I love eating, and I love sweets, and I love hamburgers and steak and potatoes. And I just wanted to be a little bit healthier, starting this offseason. So I started working with a guy who knows nutrition.”
Rodgers’ playing weight was listed at 225 last season. He works out regularly, but said eating right has been most responsible for his weight loss. He also feels better.
“When I’m eating right, my energy level spikes, and I have energy all day and I feel better,” he said.
Rodgers said the food he misses most is Starburst jelly beans.
On another topic, Rodgers said that although he was rooting for the Dallas Mavericks to win the NBA title, he has a soft spot for the highly criticized LeBron James of the Miami Heat.
“I think he’s been unfairly criticized and hated,” Rodgers said of James.
Rodgers said he can relate to James on one level. “I think on the unfair criticism side there’s some correlation there,” he said.
Meanwhile, it was announced this week that Rodgers has started a record label.
