I hope he stays retired. Maybe, after a few years, I can forgive him for his actions last summer.

IMO there was nothing to forgive, he wanted to play football, the packers did not want him so he went to the Jets. I for one was happy he still got to play and that I could watch him. If he unretires I will be in front of my TV watching which ever team he goes to and wishing him the best.

Some people surely hold grudges why? This world is falling apart and you are holding a grudge either against the Packers or Brett Favre to me this is a very tiny unimportant thing with everything that is happening around us. People loosing their jobs, their homes worrying if they can buy food for their family. Now this is way more important dont you think?

I already "forgave" him. He's only human.
That said, i'm glad he's retiring. He's already pushed back my and Trippster's trip to Canton by one year. If he keeps playing, I might not be alive to make that trip!
Trippster.......is our trip still on???

I've never really cared for them much, but I think the Packers should publicly offer Brett Favre a one day contract for him to retire as a Packer. It's not necessary, but I think it could help mend the fences a little bit.

Ted I think has to take the charge on it because Brett won't (in my opinion).

This is just way too easy.

Hillbilly Jack's shoulder will heal, the tractor will become a bore, and the itch will return.

Like the phantom pain that an amputee feels after surgery, Lil' Abner will once again convince his inner quarterback that there is just enough of his diminished skills left to take the helm of the Minnesota Viking Armada.

The only way that Brett Favre will ever leave the playing fields of the NFL will be strapped unto a spine board, placed on the back of a golf cart.

Jeez. In the past five years, I've had my job sent to India. I've been laid off to cut costs. I've survived wage freezes because my company was about to go under (and let's be real - cost of living doesn't exactly freeze). I've been homeless, living with my family of three plus our dogs in a one bedroom motel. I've put my survivalist skills to use by knowing which wild plants are edible to make sure we got our proper nutrition (another example of how people who hate survivalists are IDIOTS).

Yet all this, I wouldn't trade shoes with people who are going through severe health problems like my favorite poster here is. I wouldn't trade shoes with someone who is currently out of work, like 13.5% of California right now (unemployment records are inaccurate - they don't include the folks who have been out of work for 6+ months. What you really want to look at are out of work records). I wouldn't trade shoes with my wife's friend's husband who just got shipped to Iraq AGAIN.

The economy is in the tank, folks. This is reality. I personally know A LOT of folks who are in foreclosure process, and I wouldn't want to trade shoes with them either.

Hating a man who helped bring our beloved Packers to two SBs, winning one, when for 20+ years we SUCKED before he came onto the team (and that was all I knew becoming a Packers fan in '76) is ridiculous.

So, he's a prima donna. Get used to it. You'd be surprised how many of your heroes are.

Reality is scary right now. This could all get better, or we could slip into a real Depression like the 30s. I've been away on and off from this site because I'm trying to salvage my job. I love talking Packers and learning from everyone here, but I got more important things to do now. For those who are continually dogging Favre, I say "Get a life!"

Great points Zombie my friend!
Life is too short........why sweat the small stuff?
I myself will never forget the years of fun Favre gave us, making it FUN again to be a Packer fan. The "ride" ended ugly, but it was lots of fun till the end.
There are much more important things to worry about.

Now that Brett has retired. Why does everyone have to bring up the same old arguments that carried this board all last spring, summer right into training camp?

"buckeyepackfan" wrote:

And why did people have to keep bringing up the Ted Thompson letting Favre go subject DURING the season?

Mucky Tundra (2h) : Rude!

Zero2Cool (7h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (9h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (11h) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
