Contracts are often determined based on percentage of cap of the year when signed.

Because the cap jumped a ton, Love potentially can get a percentage of cap in 2024 a lot lower than a number of other starters, compared to the year those players signed their deals and STILL be the highest paid player in the league.

You can't fault Love for the NFL market basing contracts based on percentage of cap of the year when signed, and you can't fault Love for the NFL cap going up.

Let him be the highest paid until a good starting QB gets a new deal and let's hope that Love earns it.

I'm glad that no one is badgering Jordan Love for his decision. Everyone is basically, yeah, deal should have been done already. Be smart, hold-in until signed. It's nice to see no one holding against Love.

That said, I think the Packers might be costing themselves more money each day it's not done. That is if the rumor about Rayne Prescott being in line for $60m a year is to be true.

As long as Love has a couple practices before final preseason game and gets a couple drives in that game. I won't panic. We open vs conference opponent, but thankfully not division so the longer season (17 games not 16, oohh so much longer) makes me worry less about coming out of the gates firing. Plus, the BYE being in November plays into it too -- for me.

That said a win in Sept or Oct is just as valuable as one in December. Jump out fast and build a 3-4 game lead in the division and don't look back. If injuries creep in during the season, starting fast give a team a cushion to readjust. Starting slow, like the Packers have done so many times doesn't prove any leeway.

If your first four opponents play heavy 3-4 base without any pressure and rarely go to Nickel/Dime, but the remaining opponents are blitz/pressure heavy out of sub-packages. That would change things for the offensive scheming.

You take wins where ever you get them. The strategy is to use live games to learn what works and how it works. I'm not saying treat them as toss away games. Although, with the schedule changes, they kind of are less important as the division games tend to be crowded in the later weeks of the schedule.

Our first four games are one division, one conference and two non-conference.
Our final four games are all in our conference and two division.

So, if one wanted to "argue" they could say the final four games are more valuable than the first four. 🤷‍♂️ Who wants to argue though? They're gonna just win all 17 anyway! 😁

Martha Careful (1h) : it was great to see Northern Illinois upset Notre Dame at Notre Dame
Mucky Tundra (4h) : I mean, they traded for Willis after a year and a half of Clifford, seems pretty definitive
