Douglas vs Stokes (so far) isn't a competition, Stokes absolutely sucked last year...

Stokes has more physical potential, but showed absolutely no coverage instincts and just reacted... which let the WR abuse him with double moves.

Douglas at least played games back and baited them, and while Douglas would be caught with double moves, Stokes got caught with a lot more.

Do you think CB coach kept things simple as rookie. He excelled so CB coach asked more of him and he flopped? I wonder if that ever happens. The whole sophomore slump thing puzzles me.

Split this into its own topic. I think it's worth discussing.

What do you think is the cause for the 2nd year slump we see from players that excelled as rookies?

I believe it’s a combination of factors.
first, it seems that with the Packers expectations are abnormally low for rookies. So we put them into very simple situations that they can excel. Then, when they are asked to fit into a more conventional Defense, they can’t play as fast as they have to think more.
2nd they could be reading their own press clipping, so how well they did their first year and not put in the same level of intensity in film, study and learning what they should be doing relative to when they were rookies and knew they didn’t know anything.
3 three. In Stokes case I think you have a different defensive back coach.

I wonder if another this is after a year in the NFL, with tape on them in NFL schemes, other teams know how to attack or defend them better. So even if they're as good as they were as rookies, they're not going to do as well because other teams no how to go after them.
