No disrespect to Stokes, but Douglas is out there catching game-sealing INTs and baiting pick-sixes like Charles Woodson. Give the man #21 and a contract extension.

Rasul Douglas has been a damn flat out rock star! He and DeVondre(sp?) Campbell. Two really damn good free agent signings that I think the defense would freaking be lost without.

Eric Stokes is also playing really damn well too.

Can I ask how many times they throw at Douglas vs how many times they throw at Stokes? In addition, which WR are they defending? My guess is Stokes more times than not is on WR 1 or 2 while Douglas is on WR 2 or 3.

Not to dis Douglas at all but some of his baiting will backfire if he is playing a better receiver. I love his Pick 6 but the receiver was simply standing there instead of moving toward the ball like Douglas was.

In all seriousness, I can't remember the Packers having a corner come up with as many clutch plays since, well, ol' Chuck Wood was roaming the field. That's not to say he is or will be as good as Woodson (he won't obviously), but those plays reminded me of Woodson's style of play.

@wpr good questions, I was curious so I checked PFF - I'm not sure if there is a better source.

Stokes, thrown at 71 times (14th), receptions allowed: 35 (t-42th), that's a 49% completion rate, which I think is very good.

Douglas, thrown at 46 times (67th), receptions allowed: 23 (89th), that's a 50% completion rate, which is on par with Stokes, albeit a lower sample size. I don't have full access to PFF's rankings but Stokes gets a 59.9 and Douglas a 75.5 - I imagine the difficulty of play and level of competition (who they're covering) is factored into that, but I'm not sure how PFF rankings work.

It would be great to see TDs allowed, yards allowed, passer rating, etc for each corner. I'm not sure if those stats are available somewhere, probably PFF if you have the paid service?

It's also worth noting that Douglas' interceptions have come while covering AJ Green, Cooper Kupp, and Darnell Mooney. And in every case he went up and took the ball from those guys. Ok, I admit Darnell Mooney isn't exactly a household name, but he's the Bear's leading receiver with 740 yards and was their #1 guy last year too.

PS: I'm not dogging on Stokes at all - I'm very happy with the kid.

The part people are forgetting about is he got his pick 6 on something he could jump, but the Rams learned and put a double move on him and burnt him bad for a long TD. I am guessing we will see teams doing that more against him as much as he jumps the slants and out routes.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

This popped up when I was reading the trade thread and I think what is wrote about the double moves seemed right this year. He sure seemed to be beaten a lot of plays and I am not saying it's all his fault because he was usually complaining and pointing at people. But it's funny to read how it went from comparing him to Charles Woodson to getting a 3rd round pick for him. Not bad for a practice squad pickup.

Douglas vs Stokes (so far) isn't a competition, Stokes absolutely sucked last year...

Stokes has more physical potential, but showed absolutely no coverage instincts and just reacted... which let the WR abuse him with double moves.

Douglas at least played games back and baited them, and while Douglas would be caught with double moves, Stokes got caught with a lot more.

I was just bringing this back for the fact that Douglas got traded, and not comparing them as it's not even close. I am guessing Stokes better show something soon or he won't get that 2nd contract.
