I believe it’s a combination of factors.
first, it seems that with the Packers expectations are abnormally low for rookies. So we put them into very simple situations that they can excel. Then, when they are asked to fit into a more conventional Defense, they can’t play as fast as they have to think more.
2nd they could be reading their own press clipping, so how well they did their first year and not put in the same level of intensity in film, study and learning what they should be doing relative to when they were rookies and knew they didn’t know anything.
