Would it really be that surprising if Hanson or Etling got canned? A late round fringe olineman and a late round QB that's been on 8 teams in 6 years (and previously cut by GB no less) are not rare commodities. And Carpenter would only be semi surprising at best thanks to his ST work last year.

In fact I'll be absolutely shocked if Etling isn't cut... only reason I see keeping him because the new QB rule allows teams put 3rd QB to play, even if they're aren't on the 46 man game day roster, BUT they must be on the 53 man roster. That being said, if you're on your 3rd QB, you're in trouble anyways, maybe do it for an important game, but for a team that might not make the playoffs, for the first half of the season, makes little sense to me unless they're too talented and won't make it to the PS.
Hanson might had the worst pass blocking I've ever seen in a regular season game. Purposely holding and getting flagged every play would of been better, and he's been recovering from injury (which makes it harder to improve), and coaches have been talking about Tom and Rhyan at Center, so it wouldn't be surprised to see him released at all.
And if they keep 5 ILBers, I think Carpenter will make it, but if they keep only 4, then it's clearly him vs Wilson and if it's in STs, clearly Wilson has been a bigger part of STs. So Carpenter could be gone. Though, Wilson is on a veteran contract, probably not going to improve anymore than he has, and isn't as young.
But to call them shocking is just click bait
