New PS rules have changed whom gets kept for the 53 man roster...
Last year, for the first time ever, PS players could be temporary elevated and plays in games, without having an official 53 man spot. BUT someone had to be on the Covid list to use that available spot.
This year, teams can elevate two PS players each game, without anyone having a positive Covid test.
This means the teams can essentially red shirt a couple of guys (such as some of the Packers 7th rounders which didn't play that well in preseason, but still got a 53 man spot over some that played better than them).
This rule change is why all the Packers draft picks made it... where I believe some other years one or two of them would of been released for other players, such as a 3rd RB... or player that's actually going to play in Sunday (where I don't think #3 NT Ford which be active most weeks... and if they stay healthy, #5 OT Walker probably won't either).
