When training camp is over and the 53-man roster has been set, these five Green Bay Packers players will be looking for new NFL homes. Training camp …

I don't consider Gil's list to be very surprising.

I don't expect Yancy to make the team.

I haven't given Ringo much thought because of Guion's suspension. Someone will make the team by default. Since by Gil's own admission he is battling it out with Price it won't be much of a surprise for him to be the guy who is cut.

Gunter came further than anyone had a right to expect last year but in doing so he was exposed for his lack of being able to defend. In all fairness he probably makes a decent dime or prevent CB but not some much when he lines up against the top 2 or 3 wideouts. It was obvious the GB FO planned to go another route when they drafted King. Others will be healthier this year. (hopefully they stay that way) Once again if he and Hawkins and maybe Goodson at some point are fighting for the last spot cutting him will not be a real jaw dropping shock.

It will be a little more of a surprise if Janis doesn't make it not because he is such an amazing WR but because he is pretty good as a ST gunner. Gil totally forgot to factor that into the equation. He also doesn't say if GB will keep 6 or 7 WRs. If it is 6 more than likely Janis is gone. If they keep the insane 7 once again more than likely Janis is on the team because of his ST play.

Finally Gil gives us his only slightly "shocking" cut in Rodgers. If they keep 3 TE and they will, R Rodgers will be the guy. Injuries happen. At some point int he year one of the other TE will not be able to answer the bell R Rodgers is by far the better receiving option over Sandland,.

Shocking cuts would be Davis, Murphy (sort of), Callahan, Jean-Francois or even Jahri Evans.

Not sure how old this article is?

He has Waters staying over Gunter.
Waters is on IR.
Gunter took his lumps last year, but he showed up every week.
He actually played pretty well during the "run the table" stretch. Considering he was pretty much the only CB healthy.

He's not getting cut.

Richard Rodgers isn't going anywhere.
No more to be said.

I've said all along the only way Janis is cut is if he gets beat out as gunner.

From reports, he seems to have started camp well.
So much young talent at wr, wouldn't really be much of a shock if Janis gets released, if he does that means the coaches have found someone better at gunner.

Yancey is a PS player at best.

You want a shocker.

Aaron Ripkowski is probably getting a little nervous after fumbling last night during the 2 minute still.
Joe Kerridge is having a good camp so far, I expect both make the roster, but if Rip doesn't show more ball security, he just could be a surprise cut.

It's going to be interesting because we go from 90 to 53 right? 27 cuts in one day. Geesh.

As for the choices of the writers...
I didn't think Yancey and Ringo were going to make it before training camp, so that's not a surprise. Only thing that makes it a bit more iffy is the injury to DT Adams. Janis could be gone if others are able to step up and be better gunners... and with the Safeties Brice, Evans and Jones they got a number of good options that might be able to. So that's not really a surprise either.

As for Gunter, the writer shows their lack of knowledge when they wrote "Do they keep a sixth?"... if you're CBs depth isn't completely crap, then yes of course you keep 6 CBs... and to argue the writers point, yes they added House and King, but they also lost Shields and Dorleant with Goodson expected to miss the first 6 games on the PUP...

Seeing Gunter or Rodgers cut would be a big surprise to me, as I see them close to being locks due to the numbers game. What 3 TEs are going to outplay Rodgers? What 6 CBs are going to outplay Gunter? I just don't see it happening.

At one time or another I've had all 5 of these on the chopping block. He didn't get very far out on the limb. Ricky Jean or Jahri would be a surprise.Martinez or Barclay or Ripkowski would be a surprise. These 5 guys aren't. since camp has progressed, I've taken RRodgers off the chopping block. Gunther is on the stay side of the fence but is headed back towards the other side ATM.

Did y'all see UDRFA from last year Gilbert beat Bakhtiari on Family Night? When I saw it live I didn't realize who the two guys were. That was a heck of a rep against a great pass protector. So I'll be looking to see how his camp continues with this pre-season. Could he be this year's Jayrone Elliott? Brian Price had some decent reps too. That's a powerful man right there. I'm intrigued by the front seven.

My surprise cut would be Blake Martinez. I know Ryan got hurt last year and so you want the depth, but I'd honestly keep Tripp over Blake, but Blake was a draft pick, and a recent one, so unlikely but who knows... I just hope Joe Thomas stays. That guy was real solid last year.
