It's still extremely early in the season, with only two games so far... but at least according to PFF the Packers have really struggled in some areas.

The Packers highest score in these categories are...
~ Run defense 48.5
~ Tackling 37.1
~ ST 54.5

Tackling was an area Joe Barry focused on last off-season, and it shockingly improved, but so far this season, it seemed to have dropped back.

But pass rush and coverage improved a lot against the Bears, but the Bears also seem to have one of the worse OL in football so far...
~ Pass Rush 82.9
~ Coverage 89.6

On offense, RBs scored high in all games... despite our run blocking to be the weakness of the offense.

The rest of the offense scored between 55 and 62 against the Vikings and then between 76 and 85 against the Bears.

So far, special teams have been a pleasant surprise. The last several years, every time they were on the field I had to hold my breath and close my eyes.
You can see the first two games that the Vikings and Bears tried to return punts and kickoffs that they thought could turn into big plays for them. Yet so far, our guys have held up.

If 54 means “slightly above average” for special teams, then I’m happy. That’s all we need out of them.

So 54 is a poor score, I assume due to missed tackles. But I'll try to look into it more.

According to PFF (which isn't perfect and I disagree with some how they do their grading)... but...

Packers have the 31st score in STs... with the Dolphins being 32nd.

Cardinals (68.9) and Ravens (67.9) are 16th and 17th... so I think 70 is supposed to be average grade, but average for this year right now would be 68.4.

Packers are close to beit dead last in grade still... Bears are #5, Vikings #9 and Lions are #21.

Trying to break down their grades more...

~ Kickoff return, Amari has 56.8
~ FGs grade, Crosby 66.5
~ Punting grade, O'Donnell 61.9
~ Kickoff, Crosby, 61.4

Then basically everyone whom has played on STs, I'm not listing them all...

But listing the top 5 in terms on snap count all with at least 28 ST snaps...

TE Davis 50.9
ILB McDuffie 73.7
OLB Galeai 53.4
S Leavitt 45.1
CB Nixon 48.1

To show some better ST grades, I'll also lis those with at least 18 ST snaps but less than 28...

CB Stokes 67.3
TE Dugara 73.6
WR Rodgers 60.5
CB Douglas 71.2

But the grades then go way down from there... I'll just mention the three worse ones...

ILB Barnes 29.6
CB Jeans-Charles 41.8
ILB Campbell 44.3

Yeah, I got to question these ST grades too... the Packers highest score this year of 54.5... would be 6th worst compared to last year.

I'm certainly not saying STs have been good... but so far, I haven't been concerned about them as much as last year...

Of course, maybe they've gotten lucky sometimes they haven't given up something much worse, and I just haven't seen it.

Tackling is bothersome. It was the one thing they did well all season long in 2021.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
