Interesting reading but this part struck me funny.

When asked whether he thinks he needs to make significant personnel changes in the offseason to return to contender status, he in effect said the Packers are not as far from being as good as they were in 2007 than their 6-10 record might suggest.

Collectively, you could sense it in our locker room after our win the other day (against Detroit) and in the building, we feel like we could have been better, Thompson said.

Are you fricken kidding me you could sense they were close to being as good as the 2007 team by beating a 0-16 team. That actually made me laugh. Maybe that was Ted trying his hand at some comedy. But i do give him credit on admitting to some of his mistakes maybe he will mention Bustin next time.

I agree he is a big tease. I have a feeling he'll do something kind of major.

I liked the part where he said that he was open to hitting the market.

I don't want him to go crazy on some big named player, I want him to take a solid contributor to the defense. Ofcourse someone along the lines of a Haynesworth would be great, but if we could get a Ngata type guy, I'd be very happy aswell. Somewhat under the radar, yet, a big reason why that 3-4 is working so well.

I don't mind that he keeps things to himself, the Aaron Rodgers question seemed somewhat stupid for instance, I don't know if the reporter even wanted a serious answer to that, it seems like something you can answer yourself.

The job of a general manager is similar to that of a chess player or (sorry, dfosterf!) a military commander. Success in war depends not only on aggression and superior strength, but also on stealth. Only an idiot would give away his strategy prior to making his move. So for all of you complaining that he is a tease, I say his attitude of secrecy is evidence that he's a good GM. If he were a blabbermouth, he would deserve the position.

I was happy to hear the comments (non-comments) that Teddy made. Especially those about free agency not being any more urgent this year than in the past and that the team has a solid foundation.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I really believe that if you run this exact same team out on the field next year, they win 11 games. I'd bet a month's pay on double digit victories.

I do think a couple free agents should and will be added to the mix, but none of them will be named Haynesworth, Peppers, Gross, or Suggs. And I think that's a good decision. The first 3 are going to command huge - possibly record breaking - salaries. Suggs won't come cheap and I don't think he's a 4-3 DE. At least not enough of one to justify paying what he'll ask for.

I'm in favor of guys along the same lines as Bert Berry. I think he's a perfect fit, as stated in other posts. Veteran. Pass Rusher. Inexpensive. Allows you to leave Cullen outside on running downs.

There are other that we already know will be free agents, but a lot of new guys names will surface come 2 rounds of cap casualties. Jason Taylor to name one would be very intriguing as a situational pass rusher.

I know it's frustrating for a lot of fans to watch their teams sit on the sidelines of free agency for the most part, but time and time again it proves to be the best strategy - albeit a bit boring. Maybe I'm just used to it as a fan of the Twins.

Barring injury, I agree. There were commentators who were predicting this team to go 11-5 this year. Obviously, that didn't happen, but when you think about the fact that this team lost 8 games by 7 points or less, had they won even half those games, they'd be 10-6. 11-5 is most definitely not a pipe dream, particularly with another year of experience under Rodgers' belt.

I just want some quality free agents brought in. They don't have to be the big names like Albert Haynesworth, but PLEASE don't let this be another year where we only bring in a Frank Walker type of player.

I know Ted Thompson can be frustrating to some of you people, but I love the even keel and the approach he has. It would be so easy after this disappointing season to go a little crazy in the offseason, but the last thing we need is our leadership figures running around wearing fake dreads and trading their entire draft away for an overhyped pothead. If football is war, and war is intellect, then... ?
