But if you've got a gun to my back, I think he should have stayed retired. I just can't imagine all the drama and losing out on the playoffs feels worth it to him at this point.

I used to think that way too but.......Making 12 million and playing in New York with expectations and something important to do is much better than hanging out on a tractor like people want to think or doing normal day to day things that non football players do. His shoulder may hurt, his back may hurt, it may be aching but I still don't see anything else in his life being more interesting.

You think there might be a reason for it? Like having an unbelievably high number of players to sign in 2009. Food for thought.

Thompson is known as a very tight person when it comes to negotiating new contracts. How come a couple games into the season, Rodgers gets a humongous bonus(which took a lot of our cap space) and 65+ million bucks? Unreal. He could have locked up both Rodgers, Jennings long term & someone else with that much money. Bottom line, Thompson wanted to make a statement with the re-signing of Rodgers earlier than they needed to, and thats what they did.

We're starting to get off-topic here. This subforum is about Brett Favre.

What do you have against Aaron Rodgers other than that he's not Brett Favre?

"wils0646" wrote:

Nothing, I really like Rodgers, hes a good QB and outplayed my expectations for him this year. I have no problem with Rodgers really.

Just wondering, was the poll taken right after the Jets were eliminated from the playoffs? Think that might have an effect if it were?

I would imagine right after the game ended..I know what your getting at and it does make one wonder...

However with the slide they had with being 8-3, I think the fans really want to let him go

You mean the same guys that amassed the 6-10 record this year?

Do you think that maybe Ted Thompson has a problem falling in love with his own draft picks?

Don't you think it's time that he infused the team with some additional talent?

These old excuses for Ted Thompson are ringing very hollow for me now.

No, I mean the same guys that amassed the 13-3 record last year and down season this year.

I don't think he has a big ego like everyone of you people like to say. It's actually pretty funny. It's like what conspiracy theorists think about our government. Fact: Championship teams build through the draft mostly. I can say that Ted Thompson seems frugal when it comes to FA, but at least he doesn't dive in like spend like crazy while getting us into cap hell.

I do think he underestimated our d-line depth and o-line talent. He needs to address this obviously. I'm not happy about that. Ted Thompson definitely didn't make good decisions about the trenches this year.
