What the hell is he doing? Taking a dive? Seeing him get planted like that, I'd love to see a photo of the pre-snap formations, to see if a Bears player was lined up directly over him.

That speaks to my observation that it didn't look like our line was even aware the ball was snapped.

Completely unbelievable.

I noticed Goode got dropped on his ass on the made field goal as well.

This morning MM is placing the blame squarely on the kick.. the blocking had no effect.. he gave them a free pass..

You have got to be shitting me.. MM is losing respect from me by the presser..

I buy the fact that some of the blame resides on Crosby.. but the blocking wasn't an issue.. I am in shock.

MM is in denial of how bad things have gotten IMO.

The Green Bay Packers were without one of the regular blockers on their protection unit for the field goal that the Chicago Bears blocked at the end of regulation in Mondays overtime loss at Soldier Field, but coach Mike McCarthy isnt putting the blame on the blockers.

Defensive tackle Johnny Jolly, one of the members of the field goal team, injured his ankle on the drive before Mason Crosbys 38-yard attempt at a game winner that was blocked by Bears defensive end Alex Brown. Special teams coach Mike Stock replaced Jolly with backup offensive lineman Allen Barbre, but McCarthy said that wasnt the problem.

Really, the protection had nothing to do with it, McCarthy said Tuesday after seeing the film. I know Alex Brown got his hand on the ball, but he was actually falling inside from what I saw. It was a poor kick.

It was the second failed game-winning attempt this season by Crosby, who pushed a 52-yarder wide right on the Packers last play in a 28-27 loss at Minnesota on Nov. 9.

Nothing about the operation the snap or the hold seemed to be problematic on Crosbys latest miss. Crosby had been 37 of 40 in his career on kicks from 39 yards and in.

A 38-yard field goal, when we line up for a 38-yard field goal with no wind, I fully expect to make it, yes, McCarthy said.

Crosby, who has made 26 of 32 field goals this season, also missed low and to the left on a 46-yard kick in the third quarter.

I felt Mason over-strided a little bit on that, McCarthy said. But those are things we need to talk about. We havent sat with the players yet and talked about that.

In the replay from behind the kicker during the tv broadcast, it did look like a poor kick (low and left I thought). Hard to say though.

haha he said the protection had nothing to do with it? I cannot believe that. I can't comment on whether the kick was good or not because it only made it a couple yards there is honestly no way to tell whether it was going to be good or not. I can however comment on the lineman laying on the ground and the several bears players in our backfield because that was obvious.

Take a down the LOS look.. the Bears blew away the interior of that line.. add to it, that in the swirling wind, less elevation is better than more..

I am not saying Crosby doesn't own some blame.. but come on man..

My first impression was clearly that the line got blown up and it wasn't Crosby's fault. However, I can't say if it would have been blocked if he had kicked it like the made field goal earlier, or if it would have been good if it hadn't been blocked. I also can't see a reason McCarthy would arbitrarily throw a player under the bus in place of other players.

So much for MM not wanting to single out players in a presser eh.. I wish he would start this on guys that are mistake prone each week.
