Stats don't bear out the What Favre brought to the field.

Your argument sounds compelling at first blush, except it fails utterly to explain either the 2005 seasons (4-12) or the 2006 season (8-8). Where was Favre's mystical influence those years?

Oh, wait, what's that I hear? It was all the defense's fault those years?

Figures.

In the face of empirical facts, your argument falls flat on its face.

I agree.
We keep hearing how the almighty Favre would have willed this team to a better record this year.

Heres a fact:
Through today, the Jets have scored 354 points on offense.
The Packers have scored 355.
That means that Rodgers has lead the Packers to ONE MORE point then Favre has lead the Jets.

Now look at defense.
The jets have allowed 292 points
The Packers defense has allowed 319

The Jets have given up 27 less points on defense.

Take that 27 points and divide it up amongst our losses, and we'd easily be on top of the division.

Favre doesn't play defense, does he????

But keep saying that garbage..........even though it has NO truth in it.

Here's another Packers/Jets stat

2007 Packers 13-3 > 2008 Packers 5-8 (week 14)

2007 Jets 4-12 > 2008 Jets 8-5 (week 14)

Take the differences in W's against the loss differential, divide that by Pi and then take it times the square root of TT's ego and it's clear that Favre did nothing while he was in Green Bay. It's about the W's baby.

For comparison purposes, as of Week 14 last year, Green Bay had scored 361 points and surrendered 229 points.

By startling contrast, as of Week 14 this season, Green Bay has scored 355 points and surrendered an incredible 320 points.

Last year at this time, Green Bay's point differential was +132; this year it's +25. The fact our record is an abysmal 5-8 with a positive point differential shows how close the games have been.

But the fact remains: this team has scored only 1.38% fewer points than last year (with a first-year starter, at that) but has surrendered 39.7% more points than last year. That's an enormous burden for our offense to have to overcome.

Brett Favre made all the difference? The facts say otherwise.

Like that will make them null and void.
Thats ok......you can ignore the facts and the truth if you want.
Go on with your rant if thats waht makes you happy.
I myself can't understand how being ignorant on purpose can bring you joy.....but if that floats your boat, so be it.

And the Jets didn't do anything else besides get Favre this season. There wasn't any other acquisitions (ahem Jenkins anyone?). Plus, the Jets are 8-5, and we're 5-8, nothing says both teams can't finish 8-8. What would you say then? Keep Favre talk out of this, because it's BULL.

Cheesey is right.

Another interesting point: Including the New Orleans game, the total point differential in games the Packers have lost is -56, an average of exactly -7 points per loss. Excluding the NO game, the point differential shrinks to -34 -- an average of merely 4.86 points per loss.

With the exception of the NO game, the Packers have been in every game they've lost this year.

We're not talking about facts, we're talking about OPINIONS. Your opinion isn't necessarily TRUTH, unless you're Jesus Christ the second coming. I read your post and just because I didn't have an epiphany of reverence for your stated opinion doesn't mean that I didn't consider the validity of your arguments. I read your post objectively and then... promptly flushed it down the toilet.

Precisely. We're talking about your speculations, which unfortunately you are completely unable to back up with facts. And considering that for which you long can never possibly happen, what's the point of wasting energy on it?

The FACTS when examined in the broad picture show that Rodgers has done an admirable job this year. Anything else is whining and immature at that.

But at least you admit your Favre religion is just that . . . a creepy sort of man worship utterly inured to facts. You have more honesty than most Favre fanatics, so I respect you for that.
