...Sites that tracked NFL teams’ salary cap space believed the Packers to have had about $35 million in cap space prior to signing their four big-name free agents and releasing outside linebacker Nick Perry. Following those transactions and the signings of wide receiver Geronimo Allison and tight end Marcedes Lewis, Over the Cap had the Packers estimated with about $13.5 million in cap space....

...However, there is apparently some faulty math somewhere. According to Tom Silverstein of Packersnews.com, some previous cap charges were not calculated, and have been added to the team’s cap number for 2019:

...If this was an unexpected circumstance for the team, there will be some serious explaining to do regarding Russ Ball’s handling of the cap. Alternately, if the NFL identified this now and sprung it on the team well into the free agency period, that would be an unlucky, arguably unfair result...

...That situation may explain why the Packers chose to backload so much money in the four new players’ deals onto future years, as well as why the team seemingly did not pursue cornerback Bashaud Breeland more seriously...

If that's on Ball, then that's a colossal brain fart on him since that's supposed to be his job and hes supposedly one of the best at it. I hope this doesn't fuck us with the draft coming up. I'd hate for us to trade some picks just for salary cap reasons

That is barely enough to cover the draft class.

I guess there won't be any injuries this year.
No need to save any money to sign free agents in season.

Somebody is going to get cut, not because of lack of talent, but because of a screw up by upper managdnent .

I'm going to go out on a very short limb and say Tramon will be gone.

Not a big deal, some will say,.
Hell, The Packers don't need veteran leadership.

How will this effect next year?
Nobody is going to get an extension during the year.

"Starting to hear", "We'll see", "One source estimated". Let's see how this plays out before jumping to conclusions.

That said, if anyone has to be cut, let it be Crosby. Paying $ 5 million to a kicker is ridiculous. Being able to save $ 3.6 million by cutting him is a huge gift.

Looking at this career percentage... It's far from impressive at 80%. I know that slump year drags it down a bit, but still. His big selling point has always been his leg strength, but that's only lead to a decent, and not great, 53% of FGs made from 50+ yards.

When comparing kickers, he's pretty comparable to a guy like Janikowski, in both percentages and strengths and weaknesses. Janikowski makes $ 2 million this year. Made about $3 million a year with the Raiders before that.

Crosby is paid $ 4 million a year, with a cap hit of $ 4,9 million. That's the 3rd highest in the NFL and in line with Justin Tucker, one of the clutchest guys in the league who makes 90% of his field goals and 70% from 50+ yards and Robbie Gould, clutch, 88% overall and 78% on 50+ yards.

If we're going to settle for an ok kicker, I'd rather have him at a decent price.

By signing the 4 FAs the 2019 draft isn't as critical a need as it was 3 weeks ago. Gb could trade a few of this year's pick for more in next year's draft and it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Tramon and Mason might be targets to provide more room. Graham might have been but the $5 mil roster bonus kind of takes care of that.

As for the need of veteran leadership in the secondary, technically King, Alexander and Jackson are all veterans. I don't dispute that Williams has more experience. Isn't it the goal to get the younger 3 out on the field more? Does any team want to pay their #4 CB more than the combined salaries of the "starting" 3?

Erroneous report. This is their expected available cap counting draft picks and some "circus money" for the regular season. Essentially they have 5 million left over to spend on Free agents/extensions this year.

Zero2Cool (18h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (21h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (21h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (23h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (23h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (23h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (23h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (23h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (23h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (23h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (23h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (23h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (23h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (23h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (23h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
