I think this looks pretty good from a dead money standpoint. Is there anyone who doesn't think we will have Matthews for at least the 4 years. granted there is the injury aspect but from a talent aspect I don't see the Packers planning on cutting him because of that. The same will be the case with Rodgers. If he doesn't get hurt Rodgers will be the Packers QB for a minimum of the next 4 years even if his production does slip. He has earned some leeway as has Matthews.
People complaining that Ted Thompson sits on cap space like it was his own personal stash just don't see the advantage of it. Their idea is to run the salary up to the cap and use it all. If there is any left they see it as a waste. Well, if the Packers had done that there is no way they could make deals with Matthews and Rodgers and have them be as team friendly as they will be.
