They can’t (or wont) even take care of their own business (the government, I mean) so I agree that they shouldn’t stick their noses into ANYTHING.

Beast posted from a news article:

The last people I want involved in the NFL is the US goverment, particularly Congress. They should keep their arrogant noses out of it, and get a handle on the things under their purview.

Generally “We must not look to government to solve our problems. Government is the problem.

I oppose the, I got mine and to hell with everyone else thinking. Yet our taxes fund our military, law enforcement, food inspection, medical research, and much more. Government servants control the air traffic, fight forest fires, maintain our national parks and monuments, and save lives (the US Coast Guard).

All too often the rare example of someone taking advantage of a Social Service or other agency is paraded as an example of what is wrong with government. What is not seen is the rigorous process that those applying for programs must endure. It is not often considered that for all of their lives people pay into funds like Social Security and are due consideration for a medical disability or retirement benefits.

We have also seen what happens when banks, stock markets, insurance companies and others are allowed to use money in their trust, to speculate and run quick money schemes with money that does not belong to or is not to be played with (retirement funds). Regulation and enforcement is the only way to protect investors/bank accounts from greedy white collar criminals.

Border Security is also a part of government and works to protect us. I don't approve of illegal immigration, but a wall is not the answer. More Security officers and better equipment are needed to increase inspections, patrols, sensor equipment, and trained dogs. Ports, shorelines, airports, country roads and more are used to smuggle drugs and people into the country. Tunnel systems and even submarines are being used to in these operations. A "Wall" is just a way for one political party to say they won. Walls are a joke to people that will not be deterred by such a useless thing.

Just asking, but isn't stadium security the municipalities concern with assistance from FBI? Neither are affected by the shutdown.

To me (and millions of other people) the wall is necessary. They can’t watch every inch of the border, and it will prevent many from entering illegally.
Would it stop all? No.
I have nothing against people entering the country LEGALLY.
But if they aren’t willing to obey our laws on the way in, what are the chances that they will obey our laws in the future?
I’m expected to obey the laws, shouldn’t everyone?

Also, as Smokey said, too many people care only about themselves.
My father in law used to call it the “hooray for me, and F#%K you” syndrome.
