Bulk him up, let him be the DE he always wanted to be.
Looney's not a stand up rusher. Should be interesting. Looking at you, Fackrell!
Wouldn't mind seeing if Kendall Donnerson is ready. Then again, it would seem that he's not. 🤣

I'm not sure of this, because I haven't been able to break down Pettine's defense as much as I'd like, but I think he uses a DL edge on one side a lot, which Wilkerson and Perry were asked to play, until Wilkerson injury... and now Perry injury, and they then used Daniels there, and injured again.
So I don't think it matters if he's a stand-up rusher or not in that particular role. Plus with Daniels down (for who knows how long) they only had 4 healthy DL and sometimes use 3 on the field at a time, so they needed more healthy depth in case of injuries.
I really want to see Donnerson next year... he's got all the physical tools, and plays mean, just he was completely undeveloped in college... if he can develop (who knows if or how long that might take) but he could become a very good player if he develops. And with his size (250) and speed (4.45 40) I'm surprised they haven't demanded him for STs.
Is Perry done in Green Bay? Quite a bit of dead money to cut him.

According to Spotract
2019 Dead Cap: $11,100,000
2019 Cap Savings: $3,600,000
They could bump $7,400,000 of that cap hit into 2020 with a post June cut, to free up the same amount in $7,400,000 but either way it's the same amounts, just different ways to spread it.
The only place I see $4.8 million in Perry's contract is a roster bonus that he gets if he's on the team on the 3rd day of the 2019 NFL season (3rd day of FA I believe).
Perry's cap hits are over 14 million, but the Cap hit is not what they earn each season... as it also includes sunk cost lost signing bonuses. Perry made a bit more than $7 million in cash in 2018 and if he makes the roster week next year will earn $11 million in 2019.
Teams need edge defenders and Matthews and Wilkerson are FAs... I would be shocked if the Packers let Perry go without having someone else locked up (Matthews/Wilkerson/FA etc).
