With the 213th overall selection, the Packers select TE Kennard Backman  in the 6th round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

I do agree with your point though and think bringing a veteran free agent would have been good. I believe there was three or four that were promising.

The Packers used a 3rd round selection on a Tight End the year prior. So it's easy to see why they didn't draft another considering most football aware people understand it can take three full seasons for a player to come into their own. Nick Collins for example.

I do agree with your point though and think bringing a veteran free agent would have been good. I believe there was three or four that were promising.

People rip on Finley, but he opened things up for the other receivers and the running game. The whole story isn't told by individual stats of a player.

I do hope a Tight End is acquired either trade, free agent or even trade. Mike McCarthy is very huge on tight end position so why not get get one to open things up?

I'm hoping the Packers invest a 2nd-4th round pick in a TE this coming draft. I think with the first and probably the second round picks they should target a DT and OLB with the probable departures of a few people in free agency. But after that they really need to bring in a capable project ala Finley in 2008 when we snagged him in the 3rd round. I still have faith in Richard Rodgers but most good offenses these days have two capable TE and the Packers definitely don't have the 2nd.
