What do you think about this?

According to Bob McGinn of BobMcGinnFootball.com, the Packers’ front office is ready to move on from the long-time outside linebacker.

“I’m told that the Green Bay Packers reached this conclusion (that his production was waning) some time ago,” McGinn wrote. “I’m also told that, if the season were to end today, they have no intention of re-signing Matthews after his contract expires at the end of the season.

I think they're a year too late, but I said the same thing about Cobb this off-season and he's proven me wrong so far.

Maybe if he'd be willing to sign a really cheap contract, you'd keep him for one more year, but I see a team that's desperate for a pass rusher overpay immensely for a year or two of his services.

I think if there was a clear and obvious replacement for Clay this year, he would have been cut. There wasn't, so there he is. It's a shame that they didn't manage to sign/draft or trade for an OLB, but it's difficult to fill all the holes in a team in one year.

I wouldn't be upset if there were 2 edge rushers and two offensive lineman drafted in the first 4-5 picks next year.

I think the Packers would gladly keep them around at the right price, but their current deals, might not be too exciting to the Packers (other than maybe Bulaga, IF Bulaga is fully healthy and can stay that way).

Of course, the Packers over the years, have also had their habit or mentality, of not bringing a vet back if they think their will be a large pay cut.... (such as Woodson, Burnett and I think their were more), but they rather have a clean break, then a potentially upset lower paid vet. We'll have to wait to see if this seems to continue with Gute... if this article is true, then I think this might be the principal reason.

Not very earth-shattering, in depth journalism. Most of us have been saying the same thing for a while and we don't have the same access or contacts that McGinn has.

If Bob told us Clay was going to be a healthy inactive this week, and he was, that would be something.

McGinn is such lying tool. I guess Clay declined an interview with him.

If Guntekunst has made this 2019 personnel decision week 2 of 2018, then he’s a complete idiot and 100% unfit to be a GM.

McGinn is just an old man yelling at the clouds.
