BIRTHDAY or not , THERE IS NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE DRIVING!
The NFL provides Any player a ride home with a simple phone call.

There is UBER!

STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!

Ted and Co. Are no dummies.
They probably will keep him around until they don't need him.

Question is how many more weeks of suspension will be added?

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Pack loses nothing by letting Guion stay until he serves his suspension right? It's obvious they picked up Ricky Jean to take his place right?

If it was his first offense of any sort I would say yeah they keep him around and support his rehab or whatever but this guy has had multiple run ins. I could easily see the Packers cutting bait on him. Other teams have done it without waiting to see how it turns out. Having said that I could equally see them keeping him around.

Birthdays no more excuse breaking the law than being the President of the United States does . Privilege nor Money nor the needs of a States pro-sports team can elevate anyone above the law . Driving drunk (DUI) kills innocent victims every year and should be dealt with most severely . If loosing his job becomes part of the punishment , them so be it . Perhaps it will send a strong message across the league if Guion does descend to the bottom of the pit for his behavior .

Along with the already publicized upcoming competition at the CB positions , the Packers will also have keen battles among the RB's and among the LB's as well . Feeding all concerned during TC must be a real challenge too . [biggrin]

I think the ban hammer drops from 4 games to 8 minimum this year. I think it's easy enough to see how he does in camp, but he could definitely be a camp casualty at final cut downs if some other younger guys step up.

In 2014, Raiola had two clear cheap shot plays... one was against the Patriots at the end of the game. But for the first one he spoke loud and clear, yeah he did it, and he did it on purpose because ______ what ever the reason was. I don't like that he did it, but I like that he didn't hide from it or forget about it... like say Suh stomping on someone and claiming his foot didn't touch no body.

I respected that he admitted it. Of course, bad PR and so Goodell fined him and maybe suspended him a game... and the second time he did something that year, he of course claimed he didn't do it on purpose... but Raiola spoke in a way that was pretty clear, he didn't want to be fined, and he would admit it if not for the punishment. And no punishment because less bad PR... that's Goodell for you... less truth and more PR.

My point being, Guion owned up to it, that's a hell lot better than lying, or trying to fight or argue with the officer. It's much better than OT Khalif Barnes' "you're only arresting me because your a racist pig argument"... you know after he repeatedly gets caught almost doing double the speed limit and been drinking on the interstate.

As the punishment system used to be
1st time: Warning
2nd time: 4 games
3rd time: 16 games

Of course, watching their suspensions lately, it has been crazy and all over the place.

For example the NFL AND the NFLPA (players union) have agreed to not follow CBA on certain things (for what ever reason), and that's how Mike Pennell was able to get a lower number of suspended games for his second suspension in one year, as Pennell got a lawyer and they were going to sue both if they didn't lower the number of games.

Which interestingly got Pennell released before the Packers season was over... instead of being suspended until the offseason. And I still wonder if the NFL might of put some pressure on the Packers to release him, because he was playing hardball with them... or just the double suspension, or just because they weren't going to release anyone else at that time. Also wonder, if he stayed suspended until the offseason, if the Packers might of kept him.

Guion didn't try to run from the cops, he didn't try to fight with them when he was pulled over.
Shock of shocks! HE WASN'T SHOT BY THE POLICE.
Maybe others should learn from his example.

He should NOT have been driving, period.
He is getting a list of problems. It may be time to let him go.
One mistake, that can happen to anyone. But if you show you don't learn from your mistakes, maybe it shows something about your character, that you are either unable or unwilling to learn from them.

I believe the Packers owe him nothing while he's suspended and are not required to keep him on the active 53 man roster until he returns. So besides some bad press there is no need for the Packers to release him until whenever he comes back mid-season.

Alot of teams wouldn't want the bad PR but there are few states in the country more willing to forgive a dui than the people of Wisconsin. The federal government at one point had to threaten to withhold highway money unless the state started taking it more seriously. Living most of my life there i know how ingrained it is in the culture, so Guion may survive this imo.
