If you could choose between Davon House or Micah Hyde, same salary, who do you choose and why?

House. We have guys who can do what Hyde does well like Burnett, Bryce and Rollins may get there if he's healthy. We don't have enough players who can line up and run with big/fast WR on the boundary. With House on the roster we only need 1 guy to develop on the boundary between Randall/Gunter (as the roster stands atm). With Hyde on the roster we'd still need both of those guys to step up outside.

House is just slighly a notch better then Hyde. As much as Hyde has done good plays in some plays his been as bad or worst.

The only thing Hyde did well was ALLOW completions.

I can envision a time where D-Ran floats around the backfield a little more on certain packages too. This may open things up for other guys.

I'd say House because he is a better position player. Where Hyde had him beat was with his versatility in the secondary and his ST ability. All in all though I'd rather have the better position player especially if he is going to see a lot of playing time.

Pretty tough call. It depends on what you need as they are not the same player. House is a CB, Hyde is a Safety. All else being equal I would be willing to Pay more for Hyde for his versatility. While our top end talent is better at S, we have more depth at CB.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Am i missing something? House was a backup when he was here and most people were happier than shit when he was gone just like Hayward. How can you even compare the 2? House was benched on a team like Jacksonville and Hyde was asked to play outside corner, slot corner, safety and some linebacker. Oh and he was also put on punt returns when they wanted security. He might start here just because our secondary sucks so bad. I also saw someone mention about letting Randall float around and it would free up guys, but I have to ask? Didn't he free up enough receivers against the Falcons. He is lost he has no confidence and plays 15 yards off the ball. But then again thats what you get when have safeties play cornerback.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

House didn't get benched, he was replaced as a starter. Not the same thing. He was a depth piece last year just like he was here. I don't think he was resigned to be a starter here either. The difference between Hyde as a depth piece vs house as a depth piece is house can actually cover a receiver. Something Hyde couldn't do no matter what position he was asked to play. What good is versatility if you are worthless in all positions? How are you even considered versatile at that point?

A good effort guy and smart but House at least has 1 good season of starting under his belt and can hold up in man coverage. Hyde might be worth the contract he got as a safety if he excels in a new scheme but he doesn't really have the skillset to be a 6m/year CB.
