Packers head coach Mike McCarthy took 12 days to sack special teams coach Shawn Slocum. And instead of interviewing proven veterans, he selected Ron Zook. Did he make the right call?

Impossible to say with intelligible at this point because we haven't seen even one game with him as coordinator for the Packers.

I agree with zero and yooper that we can't really know yet. I also acknowledge that I didn't love this move just based on the "guilt by association" logic with last year's unit.

For the good or bad, it seems apparent that MM will have a heavier hand with the D and ST this year, so even if Slocum was still coordinator, I don't think we'd be able to say we'd KNOW how things would pan out this season.
