Abbrederis...only because of his injury history w/concussions.

Pump the brakes peeps...

Why is everyone assuming Cobb will bring big moneys?

He's had:

443
954
375->

Yard seasons... Hardly productive enough to warrant a big contract.

2 shitty and 1 good-not-great year is not too impressive.

I'd argue he is much more talented than that, but numbers are tangible.

Same thing with his rookie year when he had a big impact as a returner and had to compete for targets against a deep, established receiving group with Jennings, Nelson, Finley, Jones and Driver. How many rookies deliver huge numbers in those circumstances?

Edit:
In 2012, Cobb ranked 10th in yards, 6th in touchdowns and 7th in catches in the NFL in just his second season.

Edit 2:
Not sure if I'm just blind or if something was going on with pro football reference because when I went back I saw that Cobb was 17th in catches (14th amongst receivers), 24th in yards (22nd amongst receiver) and 16th in TDs (13th amongst receivers). Still, arguably a top 15-20 season for receivers in his second season was a breakout and he continued that into year 3 until he got hurt.

You've missed the mark.

But we have seen what he can do on the field.

There is another aspect in that the Packers tend to be pretty deep at WR and we are not going to have a league leader in targets. Because Rodgers spreads the ball around too much. But what we will have a leader in is catches per target and yards per catch. Cobb is right up near the top.

Cobb has over 1,000 yards over his last 16 games. The production is there just a freak broken leg held him back. I wouldn't be surprised to see him land a deal for around 6-7m average but it's still quite a bit of money to sign both him and Jordy and Jordy is clearly our #1 wr so it seems he's likely to be the priority. Boykins contract runs out after next year as well but he can still be tendered as RFA cheaper for an extra season so I see him sticking.

I still say Cobb is the first to go - after this season - a lot of other teams maybe valuing him more highly than the Packers. It seems to me that Cobb has declined just slightly rather than improving since his first year. He just doesn't seem to have the zip he had, even though he shouldn't be losing it with age, and a broken leg usually doesn't bring lingering effects like knee injuries. For some reason, though, he just doesn't seem as fast. I also think Cobb is a little bit fragile. I have been trying to figure the reason why Ted drafted three WRs - when we easily could have just gone with what we had; I think the probable NOT re-signing of Cobb is a major reason.

I'm not sure who it will be, but I'm a little surprised Cobb is such a popular pick. I view him as a future superstar; the kind of player we don't let go of for a long time. I think we'd be more likely to let Nelson walk than Cobb. That being said, I view Cobb, Nelson, and Boykin as the top 3 receivers this season, so I guess I'll pick a rookie to be gone first.

My vote is Abbrederis. I believe the depth we have at Receiver will make it tough for him to get a roster spot, and since the Practice Squad players are free agents, I pick Abbrederis to be "gone from the Packers" first out of the 5 in question. Hooray for technicalities!

Zero2Cool (16h) : Johnson didn't make it until 2020. Ring 2023. 🤷 Personally, he should have been in years prior to Hall.
Zero2Cool (16h) : HUMP DAY
beast (16h) : Guys that have a good shot at making the NFL Hall of Fame usually get into their teams pretty fast
beast (16h) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Zero2Cool (16h) : Johnson was Hall of Fame, 2020. Should haev been in Ring a year later, not three years.
Zero2Cool (16h) : I could be wrong there though
Zero2Cool (16h) : Guys like Kampman, Tim Harris, Al Harris, etc all over 15 years. Hall of Fame is 5 year wait
Zero2Cool (16h) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (16h) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (16h) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (17h) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (18h) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (18h) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (18h) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (18h) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (19h) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (19h) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (8-Jan) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : McCarthy let go or not extended??
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Chicago Bears have asked the Dallas Cowboys permission to interview Mike McCarthy for head coaching vacancy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : The winners page that is

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
