You have a magic wand and through free agency or draft can add one playmaker to a single position on the Packers. What position and why does this propel them closer to a championship?

From these potential free agents:-

Brian Orapko
Jairus Byrd
T.J Ward
Greg Hardy

I'd have to go with Greg Hardy.

It's always a risk, the megabucks FA game but I think the defensive front is the cornerstone of a defense, and provided he plays to potential, Greg Hardy could be a top playmaker. He has great size (6'4, 290lbs), and with Mike Daniels Developing nicely, the entire complexion of the defense changes.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the DL being the cornerstone of a D. I do think we should add a NT in the draft, or possibly via FA… I don't see Raji returning, and Pickett may be able to stick as a backup. We could stand to add another high quality big fella in there.

I go T.J. Ward. Jairus Byrd is more fluid in coverage and is a better ball hawk, but I think Ward has better tackling form and gives us a leader we desperately need.

Say what you want about Nick Barnett celebrating for nothing after a 4-yard tackle, but we need somebody on defense that plays with some sort of emotion.

Play making ILB to replace Brad Jones. One who can pass rush, run stuff and cover downfield. 6'3" 260 that runs a 4.4 40.

Improve the backend by improving the front end. Make it so our Dline and ILB make the stops so our DBs especially S can concentrate on pass coverage.

The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Someone, anyone for the DL. Someone who totally disrupts the OL. I don't care if he comes via a trade, FA, draft or a substantial step up by one of the current players.

I'll just go best case scenario without putting any nametags on. Greg Hardy, for instance, is one guy who's a bit of an uncertainty when you plug him into a 3-4 system.

I'll go for a playmaker at the OLB position (surprise) or a mauling NT. A Tamba Hali or Vince Wilfork type, respectively.

Like PFWT said, you improve the frond end and the back end will follow. That's how the Giants won their Super Bowls, behind a fierce pass rush with some decent players behind them. If a QB is constantly under pressure, feeling the heat, getting hit, not having any time... He'll either get absolutely nowhere or start throwing it towards your safeties and CBs.

That's age, experience and (a little) talent - With Hardy in the mix we'd have a great nucleus on the line without hindering anyone's progression due to the snap rotation.

Daniels, Neal, Worthy, Boyd, Hardy - Something to work with.

Looking at it from a planning perspective :- Shields/Hyde/Heyward/Williams/Burnett (to a degree) is a good group of players, not the best, but more than serviceable :- the only position I think that needs fortifying is another competent safety. Thing is, you don't even need an absolute stud back there, just someone who won't be embarrassed should pressure not be consistent.

Mucky Tundra (28-May) : I haven't watched the pregame shows in years and I don't feel like I've missed a thing
Zero2Cool (28-May) : Love says knee affected him all season, groin injury didn't help matters.
Zero2Cool (28-May) : I used to enjoy him on FOX Pregame. Now it's like a frat party of former Patriots.
Zero2Cool (28-May) : LaFleur on Watson: “Christian is doing outstanding. I would say he’s ahead of schedule.”
Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : He wad all butt hurt because Aaron duped the media saying he was immunized.
