Absolutely shameful. The head coach should be fined for this kind of behavior, in my opinion:

Video of Giants bullshit

edit: I got so excited to hit “post” that I forgot to say that Packer fans will have to watch out for this on opposing teams during the season. McCarthy plans on using no huddle to keep things up tempo this season.

When I saw that, I started laughing uncontrollably. Though my reaction would probably have been different had it been against us.

Just slap some fines on players who fake like that, and the team as well (yes, I read PFT thank you very much).

Faking injuries is deplorable, in my opinion, but I don't see how any rule against it could be enforced. How can it be proven that a player was not really injured? What if it was just a cramp, which is painful and debilitating, but doesn't leave any evidence?

In the end, all you can do is have a code of honor, and judging by what these players and coaches have to say about it, there is no code of honor when it comes to this issue:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/nfl/09/21/fake.injuries.ap/index.html?sct=nfl_t2_a8

All you can do is lose respect for the players who do this, sort of like how I lost respect for Derrick Jeter when he faked getting hit by a pitch. (Although that is provable through replay review and could easily be punished with a suspension, or even ejection from the game if it was reviewed right then and there. But it just doesn't happen often enough for Major League Baseball to bother with, it seems.)

from the SI article that Greg linked:

In the memo obtained by The Associated Press, the NFL reminded teams of league policy that calls on coaches to discourage the practice. There is no specific rule on the topic.

If the NFL really wants to control fake injuries they have a couple of alternatives.
1. Charge a timeout every single time any player is injured. If a team is out of times outs give their opponent 10 yards (not 5) for delay of game.
2. Let the play continue. If the defense has a player down they can play with 10 men. If he is down while over the LOS- offsides.
I know you don't want a player down with a neck injury like N Collins and have the next play run right over him. So I will add an amendment. If they player is carted off the field no time out will be charged.
