Isn't applying the lessons learned from the past upon the present and improving the future atoning for those mistakes?

I believe so.

So the real issues is correcting the bullshit of today.. truly applying the lessons learned equally regardless of race, sex, or physical state.

IMO.. there is nothing that can be done today to truly erase the sins of yesterday. No amount of apologizing, no amount of money, no laws.

Just acting and behaving morally correct..

But there lies the true rub of it all.. those in power today are writing new rules that create a different divide in this nation.. the elite vs the other 95% of the American population.

Truly ask yourself this.. do you think the Koch brothers and their ilk carry about the color of another persons skin in making sure that no one infringes upon their power and wealth?

Personally.. we the people have to take back our rights overall.. then help set in place the corrections to truly try to make this country a place where "Freedom" has teeth, for all not just those that manipulate the system.

So if we enjoy that position and ignore the wrong - are you truly absolved from for your father's sins? Do you really believe that?

I don't understand why everyone is taking this shit to a personal level. There are good people everywhere, but we are being controlled by evil people. The time has come for the good people to get off their collective asses and quit taking it.

On a personal note, I was raised by a lazy, cruel man (physically and mentally) - but I extracted whatever good I could from the situation and moved on. I don't abide by the honor thy father code - that's for sure. I'm not going to be shedding many tears the day he dies. For those of you that had good fathers, I'm happy for you. That must be a great way to spend life, being proud of your family. I just don't share a common ground with you.

Am I going to be judge on his sins - probably not.

I think we are comparing apples and oranges now WPR. I think my family considers me to have done a little more than help them out.

Ah, yes. "White male privilege" -- the gross oversimplification that is the liberal's bludgeon of first resort. Having served on an activist student senate for a couple of years, I have endured many hours of preaching on this particular gem. There was certainly a time in our nation when "white men had it made," but it's been decades since that was universally true (consider the fact that male salaries have not only stagnated, they have declined in real dollars since the 1970s), to the point where there are plenty of situations nowadays in which being a white male is a disadvantage, not an advantage.

If minorities (particularly black males) want to stop being treated like a stereotype, they should consider not acting like a stereotype. I personally will never respect anyone who acts like a gangsta wannabe, no matter what his race might be. I find whiggers and AZNs just as annoying as any black gangbanger.

I stopped feeling sorry for blacks after I found out that the year that featured the greatest level of black entrepreneurship in the United States was 1963 -- the year BEFORE the Civil Rights Act was passed and two years before the Great Society programs were implemented. Sounds to me like the black community has screwed itself. Maybe they should take a cue from the Asian community and raise themselves up by their bootstraps instead of relying on the dole.

There's something interesting about the past, it can NOT be changed. You can only change the FUTURE. Anyone with a bee-size brain knows this.

The fact of the matter is, there will always be some discrimination between men, women, old, young, etc ... it's just a fact of life. And it's because there's a great deal of people who LOOK for excuses as to why they are not successful. "If I was a man, I'd be making more money!". "If I was white I'd have the riches I deserve"

So many want to fight this racial discrimination card and yet are hypocrites of discrimination themselves. It's absurd, shut up and sit down. You're not a Saint. So quit your high and mighty rant of white men needing to carry any burden of whatever nonsense you speak.

If ANYONE (gay, straight, white, black, indian, hispanic, asian, etc, woman or man) struggles to find work, get a partner, get this/that, it's on THEM, not white men to alleviate any burden of what happened 50+ years ago. The fact it's being said that there is a BURDEN on white men to fix the wrong ... you just put white men ABOVE non-white folks. Hypocrite.

This country is too politically correct and too many whiny ass clowns want to find ways to scam money rather than getting their hands dirty and earning it.

I said race is a wash. I hate not being white whenever there's a cop around. However, this society has desexed white males to the point that they're, well, desexed. So much easier to get tail when you're not white.

As for jobs, I think we all had problems finding work when they started shipping them overseas. Bitch about race, sex, etc all you want but the fact is, the Man holds us all down. When I was looking for work, saw lots of white males there looking for work too with the same look on their faces I had.

Dakota - As a Historian, pretty much every nation screwed over somebody. We can go nation by nation and they all have their sins. Except Costa Rica. But I probably have to dig deeper to find sins they've committed.

I got it good. Better than you. You're white. I'm not. But if you want to send me money, I'll take it. 🙂
