It definitely is not Miller time in Minnesota.
Caught up in a government shutdown and facing a state law ordering MillerCoors to remove its products from store shelves, brewery officials scrambled Wednesday to find a resolution to the beer crisis.
MillerCoors LLC, which makes Miller Lite, Miller Genuine Draft and Miller High Life, has 38% of the beer market in Minnesota, said company spokesman Julian Green.
Minnesota, he added, is one of Miller's best markets in the nation.
"This represents a huge commercial impact for us," Green said. "And what's so unfortunate about this is that MillerCoors and other licensees, none of whom are strangers to the process, are caught up in the middle of a state battle that is impacting business operations throughout the state."
The problem arose as government services shut down and employees were laid off in response to Minnesota's budget crisis. The shutdown enters its 14th day on Thursday.
And, if you believe MillerCoors, it's all over $210 in overpayments.
