We basically play a 2-4-5 most of the game anyway. All Asomugha does is stunts the growth of Shields and Morgan Burnette. Draft another corner for depth and we are fine. The money much better spent elsewhere, like Colledge or Jenkins.

Er, on re-signing Colledge or replacing him?

Anybody better on the roster yet? Until that day, he is our LG. I've been on the fence on that one. I just don't think we should break the bank on Asomugha.

He turns 30 this offseason so put me on the list of people that doesn't want him.

Tough call IMO, considering the emergence of Shields.

Let's not forget that Burnett will be back also at the safety position and we all ready have Collins on the other side.

The only way I see this happening is on a 3-4 year deal nothing more.

No way I want Wood playing SS, especially after that broken collar bone. He obviously is not going to replace Collins. The thought might excite people but the reality wouldn't. Stunting two younger promising corners with an older one, and putting a hall of fame CB in the SS position where he's never played sounds like a disaster to me. Did I mention he will probably be the highest paid corner in the league? No thanks, end of discussion, resign the core we have instead (Jones, Jenkins).

Can he return punts? LOL.
Fact is, Woody already plays safety, they just don't call it that. He's always up on the los like LeRoy Butler, stuffing the run and blitzing the QB. He's already that guy.
Still, a guy like Capers knows what to do with good players. He'd find a way to use everyone to the maximum.

Edit: Didn't mean to quote you shields.
You can argue Woody already plays a "safety" like position. But what's a safety with 2 safeties already on the field?

Don't think he's taking away from what Aso might do over the next few years, just think it made sense back then since Woodson came at a really nice discount, and with our situation now it really doesn't seem necessary.

Asomugha would give us a viable long term option opposite Tramon Williams. It would also stack our secondary even further.

One's a bit of a season review while the other looks into how Asomugha would be a good fit for our team.
