[img_r]http://sportsradiointerviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/eric-woodsonpic-300x241.jpg[/img_r]When Charles Woodson left the Oakland Raiders following the 2005 season, it appeared he was already on the downhill side of his NFL career. Injuries had plagued him in his final two seasons and the only defensive player ever to win the Heisman Trophy had seemingly lost a step. And because he was on the decline, his original deal with the Packers was seven years for $52 million. Heading into his fifth season in Green Bay, the critics who felt that way have been silenced. Woodson won the NFLs Defensive Player of the Year award last season and has 28 interceptions in four seasons in Green Bay. He also holds the franchise record with eight defensive touchdowns.

How would he feel about playing for Albert Haynesworths $100 million? Just tell him when and where to show up.

Charles Woodson joined 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. with LaVar Arrington and Chad Dukes to talk about his time with the Packers, his pick for the surprise team out of the NFC and Haynesworths absence from OTAs.

On what its like to play for the Green Bay Packers:
Its been great. Ive been here four years now and I couldnt have asked for a better situation. You know how the talk is about being a free agent and coming to Green Bay. You know how people talk about Green Bay. But until you get here and you play in this city and you play for these fans and you play for this organization, you dont truly understand what a goldmine and what a gem that it is. Theyve taken care of me.

On Lambeau Field and the possible addition of 8,000 more seats:
Thatd be great. Youd be able to hear three states over. The great thing about that is that they take suggestions from all the fans. They put out questionnaires and polls and ask fans what they want so thats the great part about Green Bay, everybodys involved. For them to add more seats and, as you say, kind of close in that sound and knowing that the stadium is going to be packed every week and getting that crowd noise behind you, thatd be tremendous.

On whether Aaron Rodgers can take the Packers to the Super Bowl:
As far as A-Rod is concerned, I told the Monday Night crew last year, I said, If this guy, if they protect him the way he needs to be protected, hes the best quarterback in the league, and I stand by that. If you look at last season, you take a guy that had over 50 sacks that still threw over 4,000 yards, thats incredible.

On the team to look out for in the NFC North:
Theres so many. I look at one team in our own division that I think is going to surprise a lot of people this year and thats the Detroit Lions. I think they had a great offseason and the coach they got in there is bringing in a new mentality and theyre building. Minnesota, theyll be strong again of course. Just our division alone is going to be a dogfight.

On Albert Haynesworth not showing up for OTAs:
I think the consensus is that nobody can understand how you can get $100 million and not work on playing whatever system it is. I dont care 3-4, 4-3, some 5-2, I dont care. Who in the NFL wouldnt want $100 million? Im not a scheme guy. For me, Im not a scheme guy. It doesnt matter what scheme Im in, Im coming to play football. If a team said, Hey, we want to pay you $100 million and we want to switch to a 3-4, what do you think? It doesnt matter, Im coming to play.

On how long hell be playing:
The thing is, barring any injuries that keep me off the field, I could play another five years easily. I can play football. There are a lot of guys who are just corners or just this or just that. I can play football; I can play any position and go anywhere on the field. Theres no limit to what I can do on the field. I can be used until my tank is empty. I could easily give you five more years.

You can listen to the interview as well.

got to love the attitude, i'd love to get 2 more solid years of cb out of him, and at a lesser cap hit move him to safety for a year or two.

What you guys think about his comment on Rodgers being the best? I think it speaks volumes more more about the team's attitude towards Rodgers rather than what it says about Rodgers. Plus, more/less the "predecessor".

Of course a guy is going to say his teammate is the best so-and-so in the league.

It doesn't always happen so it's not as 'of course' as some would say. If he was asked who is the best, yes, mostly you'll say your teammates.

Charles was asked, can Aaron Rodgers take the Packers to the Super Bowl? That's when Charles said a few things and he is the best in the league.

What a great, great free agent pickup. He is going to be practically impossible to replace when the time comes. Hope he can stay healthy and keep his skills to have played longest with the Packers and go into the HOF as a Packer.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Mucky Tundra (22h) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Chiefs again huh? I guess another Super Bowl I'll be finding something else to do.

dfosterf (27-Jan) : Happy Birthday Dave!
Mucky Tundra (27-Jan) : happy birthday dhazer
TheKanataThrilla (26-Jan) : Exactly buck...Washington came up with the ball. It is just a shitty coincidence one week later
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
