How many people think Ted Thompson would get rid of Jenkins and get Asomugha? Ted has never operated that way.

He has deep pockets when signing our guys and he has short arms when bringing in over priced FAs. He has paid big contracts for our guys to stay, and has not paid big contracts for other teams guys.

People say get rid of Jenkins because he is hurt too much. Asomugha was slowed by injuries in 2010.

I would be very surprised to see Jenkins gone or Asomugha signed.

Who's to say Ted would getting rid of Jenkins? You sound as if you know that Jenkins whole heartedly wants to be a Packer.

That is an interesting statement.

If given the choice, keep Jenkins, or get Asomugha ...
Nnamdi is 29, has only missed more than one game a season once in his eight years.

Cullen is 30, has missed 19 games in seven years.

Adding in we'll get Mike Neal and Johnny Jolly back this year and we'll get Morgan Burnett back.

I'm gonna go with signing Nnamdi Asomugha for two years over retaining Cullen ... but its only a slight edge because I think Cullen is tremendous. It's close. If you ask me again in a week, I might talk myself into Cullen.

Hyperbole. Ted Thompson wouldn't "get rid" of him. Just not resign him because he was asking for too much money.

I don't think Jenkins wants to go. In the interviews I heard, he said he was not sure the Packers were going to bring him back because they have not contacted his agent about a contract negotiation. That is a far cry from claims that he wants out. They were also before the Super Bowl, so we don't know if the team's negotiators have contacted the agent or not.

I am looking at Thompson's history of paying our players and not over paying FAs. How many times in the past has he done that?

People say Jenkins is too expensive and we can't afford him, but we should go after Asomugha who will probably cost more. I don't see it. Specially with Thompsons history.

People said he over paid for Asomugha's former running mate, and Ryan Pickett. To name a couple off the top of my head.

Cullen Jenkins has a health issue and we have DL that 'might' be able to replace him.

I think actually overall GB was one of the highest in total payroll this year but that's because of the no cap. All of the guys who got resigned had a ton of money go into this season. Do you think under a cap that Tramon Williams would have had 13million go into this year? I am pretty sure that come next year they will be back down toward the bottom because they didn't sign any huge contracts and got a lot of money out of the way for the ones they did do.

It sounds like Nnamdi wants 3 things.

1) Super Bowl ring(s)

2) To play with other good CBs/DBs so QBs don't avoid him all season long like they have been doing for years in Oakland. QBs just play keep away and refuse to throw towards Nnamdi. He wants some action and a good cover CB that will force the action over to him more often.

3) To be paid. Yes like all FA they want to be paid. But that seems to be #3 for Nnamdi.

Who better than the Packers for the top 2?

We just proved we could win a Super Bowl and who has a better group of DB than the Packers? Jets have some good CBs but might not resign their #2 CB and I'm not sure if their Safeties are as good.

If the Packers could get a decent offer together money wise I could see it happening. And Caper trying to run nickel most of the season.

It would give less playing time to Shields but no offense but Nnamdi is a #1 CB where Shields is still learning but doing very well so far (and he usually has Collins help over him, Nnamdi would free up Collins more often).

Yep, a lot of front loaded contracts that won't carry over to this or the next few years.

Man, how awesome would that backfield be? Williams, Asoghu- Asoum - the guy from Oakland, Woodson and Collins.

Getting caught in our base defense by a surprise pass wouldn't be much of a problem, would it?

But I agree it probably won't happen. Our secondary is plenty good enough without having to outbid half the league for him....
