Thompson has to be drooling the way the Packers are set up and he can take players with great potential that other teams will pass on in a given round for somebody more ready to play now.
A scenario like J. Finley. Young, raw, but a boat load of talent. By year 3 he was a monster.
I can see Thompson cherry picking a few of these guys especially since the organization likes bringing players up giving them time to learn the system.
With that it may not be a draft year where you see a lot out of the rookies in this first year. Based on the way the roster will look it's o.k. if these guys don't come on for a year or so.
I see this as a scenario Ted Thompson loves to be in. It's a perfect place to be where the team does not need rookies to make the team better but they will make the team better in time. With the way rosters change it would be great to have players ready by the time some players are lost thru FA or retirement.
He does this right and he can pace the talent to allow the team to stay on top for years. If you see several players drafted labled as "great prospect needs time to develope" don't be surprised.
