Crazy, I wonder if that tidbit ever occurred to Craig Newsome ?

Gah, even as I posted that, I was telling myself that if there was one person on this board who would go out of his way to miss the OBVIOUS point I was making, it was you, but I wasn't going to be arsed with wasting time to find out if the Packers had ever, in their long history, through trade or some other mechanism, drafted 32nd.

A half's second thought would have been enough to realize what I was saying.

I still like Clint Sintim on the Giants as a possible 3-4 OLB. I know he has struggled as a 4-3 but I would like to see GB make a trade for him. The Giants need a 4-3 LB and we have an extra one and we need a 3-4 and they have an extra... it's perfect 🙂.

Obviously I have no idea how good the guy might be as an OLB especially after tearing an ACL but he has elite physical tools and had more sacks than any LB in the country in his final year of college. Not that I expect something like that to happen but it's more of a wish list type deal. I wouldn't be ok with trading anything crazy for him but a player + later pick or a 3rd or 4th rounder would be fine with me.

Between the three positions, OLB, OL and CB, which has more depth in this draft? I think if there's more OL than say CB, we'll take a CB higher because of the depth at OL.

No, no, no. Depth at OL in draft means an opportunity to draft more OL.

Round 1: OL
Round 2: OL
Round 3: OL
Round 4: OL
Other rounds: Other positions.

I want GB to have an OL where other teams salivate over our backups, not one where we can't get rid of starters of Colledge quality.

That is the number one requirement if we want Rodgers to last long enough for zombieslayer to realize his "most Super Bowl wins" dream.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

He'll take BPA.

However, that will be no fun to say "BPA" and the thread just ends.

Thus, we are discussing needs.

So if Blaine Gabbert falls to us, we draft him?

No team ever drafts true BPA. Teams vary between reaching for the highest need, and picking BPA from a wider set of needs. Thompson does the latter.

ARod was clearly BPA. Raji too. As were others who fell to GB over the years.

How do you know that? Ted never tells anybody what his board looks like.

I think it is safe to say that Aaron who was projected by some to be the overall #1 was the BPA.
Raji too had slid some and was a pretty good value pick.

Most teams ranks players in tiers. If players all fall in the same tier, you pick the player of need.

I believe Ted the Packers had Crabtree ranked similar to Raji, but Raji filled a need, and was Pickett insurance.

Bulaga was a need with Clifton and Taucher getting older.

Neal was insurance for Jolly and Jenkins.
