It's an interesting question. Would you rather have the best secondary in the league or the best defensive line in the league?

You raise an interesting point... at first I was going to write we could have both. With Pickett / Raji / CJ Wilson / Neal / Jolly all potentially coming back, that gives you a very good foundation. Jolly would cost the amount he was tendered at, which I think was like 2 million.

However, then I realized Jenkins is a free agent and will want to be paid. If Jenkins returns, and assuming Jolly does also, I think we have the makings for the best D-line in the league.

The fact that Jenkins too would want to get paid complicates issues.

Damn you NSD for pointing out this may very well be an either-or proposition between D-Line and Asomugha. You and your rational thinking.

IF we were to sign Nnamdi, that means Cullen Jenkins is for sure gone right?

Well there are guys on the roster with sizeable contracts that might not be back in 2011.

Clifton.
Driver
Barnett

come to mind rapidly.

Yeah, 93z. I wouldn't be surprised if none of those guys are with the team next season. Although James Jones is making a pretty strong case for holding on to Driver! lol

"Cap numbers" for accuracy (closer for projecting to 2011 due to signing bonus pro-rations, etc) vs. straight salary, even though there is no "cap" this year.
2010 numbers

Clifton 7,481,250
Driver 6,000,000
Barnett 5,400,000

I am not trying to make a case that we should run out and chase NA..

But to draw a direct reference between Jenkins and signing a NA isn't really valid.. as the roster ingredients can change rapidly in the off season.

We don't have any idea what the CBA will do to caps, contracts and guaranteed money..

William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

So did Clifton... I am not saying that they won't be with the Packers.. just their age, depth at position and injury concerns may leave them off the 2011 roster.
