I wouldn't be heartbroken if Mike is fired after the season. I don't know of anyone better, same could have been said in '91 when Wolf brought in Holmgren.

IMO Mike McCarthy Era begins Sunday. I feel the Packers need to win out and make the playoffs if he is to keep his job as coach.

if Mike McCarthy loses out, he will be fired and people will always say he was fired b/c the team did not improve under his tenure.

turnovers and special teams have just killed this team this season. If Mike McCarthy doesn't do something to remedy these flaws in the next two games and the playoffs, it should be the end of his coaching career in GB.

There's zero percent chance that Mike McCarthy will be fired at the end of this year. The way he kept the team together, and in the hunt for a playoff spot, despite all of the injuries; the way Mike McCarthy and his coaches prepared backups to step into starting roles week after week, including prepping guys who weren't on the team the preceding weekend to play important roles come game day, etc.; will ensure that Mike's back next year, no matter how these last two weeks play out.

The Patriots are 12-2. Giants and Bears would both be headed for the playoffs if the Packers lose to them both. Mike's not going to get fired for losses to those guys.

I agree MacBob.. this team has accomplished a ton this season with the hand they were dealt injury wise.

Could Mike improve in some aspects.. absolutely.. but can't we all.

We lost last night.. but I don't know if I could be any prouder of a team than last night in a loss. They didn't quit and pushed through a couple of mistakes to take that Pats to the ropes.. and had a nervous Brady and Billy the Cheat on the sideline.

Had we had all our starters this season, i doubt there would be all the "hatin".
We'd be in alot better position.
Injuries murdered our team this year. Just plain bad luck. Yet we still might make the playoffs.
I don't understand all the hate.
I guess some feel they have to blame SOMEONE for the spot we are in.....even if it's the injuries that have killed us.

Mike established a game plan that kept NE off balance and had the team control the ball for nearly 40 fucking minutes, really think about that...and that's with Brandon Jackson and Matt "who the fuck is that?" Flynn at QB...and people are REALLY bitching about play calling?!?!? Mike took a nobody rookie and implemented a game plan that kept virtually everything to within 10 yards and short quick reads to put the onus on playmakers and off of the fresh meat that Matt Flynn was.

So here is the true question then, why can't he do that every week? So I guess the blame would have to go on Rodgers. After all you hit on what alot of us have been saying all year. Lets get back to the quick short passes, but with Rodgers at the helm we don't we go for the bombs and 20 yard ins and outs.

So my question is who do we blame for the season then Mike McCarthy for his terrible play calling or for Rodgers not using the WCO?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

So whose fault is it that Slocum is retained after multiple years of horrible (worst in the league type) special teams performance?

"all_about_da_packers" wrote:

Last year, Slocum's first year, was terrible. This year has hardly, if at all, been better.

However, you have to realize the amount of injuries Slocum has had to overcome as coach. Outside of the long snapper, kicker, and punter the only two ST players he's consistently had at his disposal are Jarret Bush and Tom Crabtree.

That is an insane amount of turnover for any coach to deal with. Add to it that you have players like Quinn Johnson deciding to become an idiot by completely lowering his head while blindly trying to make a tackle, thereby missing the player altogether AND taking out a couple of his teammates from making a play on the O-linemen who ran the kick back... and well you can only do so much when you find yourself in such a situation.

I'm willing to give Slocum one more year to judge his true value... you can be mad at him and say he is a shit coach, but frankly the amount of turnover he has had to deal with on his units should not be ignored all together.

Capers is coping w/ injuries on defense. No reason Slocum shouldn't he held to same standard.
