I'm not necessarily in favour of firing McCarthy, but I can't seem to understand why we always seem to do just enough to lose (see Chicago, Washington, Miami, Atlanta, and New England this year alone). In close games we either get the lead or tie and seem to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by a defensive lapse, poor execution on offense or a bad special teams play. I don't know if that's coaching or poor execution by the players, or a little of both, but it has to stop if we're ever going to wina championship under McCarthy.

I guess I can understand how a thread like this can exist considering some here were pissed they passed on Childress and took McCarthy instead.

You want a new coach? Watch what you hope for.

The Packers did win some close ones vs. the Eagles, Jets, Lions, and Vikes. But those are statistical anomolies that we can throw out when we're looking at Mike and these Packers in close games.

Did McCarthy not know it was 4th down? I find that pretty much impossible but my friend is telling me that he rewinded it and that he swears Matt Flynn kept saying "It's 4th down".

"tonyagnese" wrote:

In the post-game McCarthy explained this. He said they didn't know what down it was so he McCarthy didn't know what play to call. If it was 1st they could have spiked it if it was 4th they had to call a different play. Flynn was probably trying to tell McCarthy that it was fourth.

I've been hearing over and over that it was more unlucky for the Packers than a failure on the Packers on that last 30 seconds of the game.

IMO Mike McCarthy Era begins Sunday. I feel the Packers need to win out and make the playoffs if he is to keep his job as coach.

if Mike McCarthy loses out, he will be fired and people will always say he was fired b/c the team did not improve under his tenure.

turnovers and special teams have just killed this team this season. If Mike McCarthy doesn't do something to remedy these flaws in the next two games and the playoffs, it should be the end of his coaching career in GB.
