I'll say it again, a victory tonight would have been great, but Packers are no worse off than they were before this weekend started, and oh by the way if The Vikings win tomorrow night, they are actually in a better position.

Squib kicks never work, because they give the kicking team too much time and, more often than not, they end up over perusing. They make me nervous every time.

"buckeyepackfan" wrote:

Your right, THEY NEVER WORK!!! That's why almost every team will use the squib kick at the end of a half, or end of a game so The receivers will not bust a long return.

Would someone please lock up daddy's Jack Daniels so twedbody and some of these other 15 year olds will stop posting drunken knee-jerk bullshit rants on these boards.

The Packers went to the Pats who just DEMOLISHED 2 DIVISION LEADERS the last 2 weeks, and outplayed them w/out Jenkins, Zombo (who is our 5th starting LB lost now?), and Rodgers and the mile-long list of other injured players.

Mike established a game plan that kept NE off balance and had the team control the ball for nearly 40 fucking minutes, really think about that...and that's with Brandon Jackson and Matt "who the fuck is that?" Flynn at QB...and people are REALLY bitching about play calling?!?!? Mike took a nobody rookie and implemented a game plan that kept virtually everything to within 10 yards and short quick reads to put the onus on playmakers and off of the fresh meat that Matt Flynn was.

There were 3 unfortunate, and inordantly influential plays - (squib, jones picked by safety = pick 6, late brain fart by Flynn)...and outside of those 3 plays the Packers DOMINATED the Pats. It's a game of inches...anyone watch the Steelers-Jets ending? Shit happens and sometimes good teams lose.

And for those of you saying get rid of Jones, please tell me who else we put in during week 17. Does Donald Lee seem like a good option out wide?!?

I hope the Packers never play another virtually complete game again, I'd hate to see what other bull shit will clutter these boards.

The question becomes, could a more disciplined version of this unit been a real contender?

You cant get past the injuries because that is near impossible to overcome. The losses we've endured would make most teams incapable of competing but we have done OK...

I question whether or not McCarthy could ever take this team, completely healhty or not. To the promised land

Basically, they kept sucking and licking and humming us for over 59 minutes. Then at the very last second, as our eyes were rolled to the back of our heads and our toes were curling and we were about to explode, they got up and giggled "Just kidding!"

It sure felt good while it lasted, but goddamn, my balls ache.

so some of you seriously thought we had a chance in this game? wow. personally, i was thrilled when we got 3 points - no shutout. then we go into the half having scored 17 - i'm thinkin holy shit we just scored 17 points against the pats with an injury hampered team - this is cool.

i can't be the only one who when rodgers went down thought "well, there goes our season"...right? flynn did a great job but he's no rodgers. he's not the leader of this team.

Excellent post. +1

This game tore my heart out. I would have been happier if we'd been blown out. I was emotionally prepared for that. But to come so close, at such long odds, against such a dominating opponent, and in their house to boot... crushing loss.

Ok, I complained some in the game chat. (That's part of what I do, after all.)

But all in all, I thought McCarthy called a pretty good game. About the only drive I didn't like his playcalling were two in the fourth quarter, where first the team goes three and out after calling three pass plays, and then on the next possession, he goes shotgun on every play on the drive other than the punt.

But apart from that part of a quarter, I think he called things almost exactly as I wanted. Not a lot of finesse, grind up the time.

That half a quarter bugs me, of course, but I feared worse.

I'm not in favor of firing McCarthy.
With that said, if he is too bullheaded to fire Slocum and Campen at the end of this season then I might feel he should go.
