Just saw this on Merriman Merriman's injury  and it got me thinking

M. Lynch - 417 yards, 3.5 avg, 2 tds. 10 catch, 68 yards
M. Barber - 313 yards, 3.1 avg, 3tds. 11 catches, 49 yards
D. Williams - 361 yards, 4.1 avg, 1 td. 11 catches, 61 yards

BJack - 488 yards, 4.0 avg, 3 tds. 29 catches, 231 yards, 1 TD

The team never had a shot at Merriman since he was swooped up so early off of waivers, but regardless, all 4 were ones that many of us were crying out to trade a 3rd rounder or James Jones for. I even admit I was on the DeAngelo Williams bandwagon so I'm not pointing fingers, merely pointing out that patience is a virtue and that Ted and co. may know their ass from a hole in the ground afterall 🙂

See this is where stats don't prove a point, all 3 of those backs share the backfield. So of course their stats will be lower
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I agree to an extent, and I'm not saying that Jackson is anything to write home about, but he still has the 2nd highest average.

Also, if Lynch/Barber/Williams were that great, they wouldn't be splitting as many carries. Peterson, Turner, Johnson, etc. tend to carry the bulk of the load for a reason...they're definitively their team's best option.

Are you honestly...with a straight fucking face...trying to tell me that Brandon Jackson isn't sharing carries?

I'm suprised every now and then by threads like this.

a) Why are there people who still don't trust Ted Thompson?

b) Why do people just parrot the media like ESPN? Why do they not think for themselves?

c) Why do people doubt the ability of the coaching staff to develop players? Tramon Williams and Sam Shields were undrafted free agents.

d) Signing overpriced jerks with baggage is not Ted Thompson's way.

e) The people that work for the Packers know more about football than the people in the media.

I think a lot of it has to do with seeing how bringing in big name players works out for NBA teams and especially MLB teams. And that's what I love about football. Bringing in a big name guy means next to nothing because football is the ultimate team sport. It takes all eleven guys on the field playing as a team to even be competitive.

Based on the injuries this year, Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson have my vote for coach and GM of the year. Mike McCarthy for the job he and the coaching staff have done prepping the team/replacement players every week, and Ted Thompson for getting Mike McCarthy the players in the first place.

The injuries the Packers have sustained would have been devastating to most teams, and the fact that the Packers are 7-3 and tied for the division lead just emphasize what a terrific job they are doing.

In my book, both MM and Ted Thompson have earned a pass for the forseeable future.
