Yeah.. we have Harris bleed into just about every thread. lol.

This thread is a extension itself of two or three other threads.. so why not muddle the waters further. 😉

Does Nance provide anything that Johnson/Kuhn/Hall don't? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's essentially another big slow fullback only Nance has marginal blocking skills.

I'm being a debbie downer here, but I don't have many expectations for Starks either. He was activated because the other option was IR, so that doesn't say much or imply he'll be the savior that some of us (to an extent myself included) are hoping he'll become.

Of course "activated" is not the same as "made the game day roster."

Agreed.
barring injury I would be surprised to see him on the field this year.

I was disappointed in Nance in garbage time Sunday.. granted limited exposure and ops.. but I expected a kid with his frame to be more north south and a banger.

PREDICTION: Starks will bring a smile to the faces of Packers fans by the end of the year.

Classic Packers: Starks over Harris
By Kevin Seifert

Here's some interesting news from the Green Bay Packers: Running back James Starks, who hasn't played football since 2008 because of a variety of injuries, was added to the 53-man roster Tuesday.

Given Starks' long absence from game-speed contact, most of us assumed he would spend the rest of the season on the Packers' reserve list. But depth concerns at tailback after the Week 1 loss of starter Ryan Grant presumably spurred this move.

Starks missed his senior season at Buffalo because of shoulder surgery, but the Packers liked his potential and took a sixth-round flyer on him in the draft. They placed him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list when training camp began because of a hamstring injury, but he has spent the past three weeks practicing with the team.

I have my doubts about the level to which Starks is ready for an NFL game. And you have to wonder how he earned a roster spot when the Packers couldn't find one for veteran cornerback Al Harris in a year when the Packers have a legitimate opportunity to make a Super Bowl run. But as we noted Monday, that's the way the Packers do business. In other words: Young players > old players.

To make room for Starks on the roster, the Packers waived linebacker Robert Francois.

I don't have a lot of hope that he'll be tearing up the league any time soon, but maybe he's our runner of the future.

As Siefert mentioned, it speaks volumes that the Packers held on to Starks while letting Harris go.

And who knows? Samkon Gado ran like a demon for a few weeks, too...

He is, you're right...I'm just saying I see him more as the Ron Dayne/Brandon Jacobs/bowling ball with feet mold. I don't see how he brings any more to the table than our 3 fbs. This is more of a thought than a suggestion...based on this logic, I should be excited that we're activating Starks, and I am, I just have limited expectations for what he'll accomplish.
