As for the FG. Here is what I see. The offense has every right to run things as normal. Run, pass or what ever as long as it is a normal event. If you call plays as normal and score, no problem. As said it is the defenses job to stop them. That is why the FG is the right call. Two other times MN had the ball 4th down inside the 15 and both of them they kicked the FG? Why not this time. For the sole purpose of rubbing their nose in it.

That is they problem I have, and why I think it was classless. All the excuses don't change that it was low class.

Thats not hte point though, thats your opinion that you do whatever you would do normally. But I'm pretty sure the "code" says that you don't add an easy FG and you give the other team a chance to stop you.

I am not sure about that (so someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I heard throughout the 2007 Pats season that the Pats are doing the right thing by going for it on 4th down instead of kicking the 25 yard FG.

I see five times during the season where MN was ahead by less than they were with Dallas late in the game, deep in the opponents side of the field, after their opponent was out of TO and each time they ran the ball, took a knee or kicked a FG. Not once did they go for the endzone. There were many other times they were ahead in their own end of the field and took a knee also. Didn't try to push the field and score either.

Changing here was very unsportsmanlike and classless.

Actually the final NYG game, they were up 34-0 with 7 or 8 minutes to go and they went for it on 4th and 1. Favre threw a TD pass to Tahi and no one complained then - I remember there too, the commentators saying something about how they can't kick the FG as that would add points to a blowout.

I don't think they were classless, I think they just wanted to keep the momentum going. That last Giants game was out of hand and they kept the foot to the pedal to keep momentum for the playoffs and it looks like it didn't hurt them in the Dallas game. I really don't see why people are up in arms about this. Its football, its not lawn bowling.

If I was Brooking, I would have been more angry about the fact that you didn't even show up for your millions of fans watching. Fine, kick the Fg. Even 30-3, thats embarassing considering its the playoffs. He should have been that fired up on D and maybe they would have stopped them once. If you stop them, there's no issue, like they stopped them on the previous 4th down, they weren't running around then crying like babies.

You get paid millions of dollars to play a game. So your crying like a baby because Big Bad Favre made you play another down, waaaaaaaaaaaaah. Be a man and stop them. You knew they were gonig for it, its not like their faked a FG. Earn your paycheck.

Most teams don't do that normally. I like the fact that some blew out opponents. Like the '07 Pats. Or when the Cowboys did the EXACT same to the Eagles in week 17.

Like I said earlier.. I've always hated the 'taking a knee' aspect of the game. Always. Doesn't mean I'm going to let it get to me when my team (or opposing teams) does it. But it certainly won't get to me when a team continues to blow another out.

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

Agreed, my bad. I thought it was the 4th but I guess the game was a bigger blowout than I thought. I am not seeing the FG in the 4th though.

Either way, lets agree to disagree. I'm not going to change my mind that if you want to keep your momentum going (which is why they said they did it - maybe their lying, I don't know), I have no issue with it. Your getting paid millions of dollars to play a game, so what if the other team made you play an extra down, man up and stop them. I don't think it means their classless, I think its more classless to be a whiny baby. And your are not going to change your mind that they're not classless.

Either way, who cares, its the Vikings, I hope they get blown out Sunday so we can continue to make fun of them for never winning a SB. If it takes karma from scoring in the 4th, I'm all for it.
