I won't give credit for Favre's success to TT, but more to MM. Why? It was the system that Favre excels at that Mike McCarthy set up. Yes, Jennings, Jones, and Grant were great finds. Hats off to Ted Thompson for that. But I really think Mike McCarthy gets more credit that a lot of people on this board falsely give Ted Thompson the credit for.
Mike McCarthy built a system that depends on timing, execution, and he's great at exploiting opposing D's weaknesses. For instance, if a D has a bad set of DBs, he has Favre exploit that. The system worked. It took 2 years, but it works. The sad thing is I strongly believe Favre would have done even better the 3rd year into the system. Contrary to the beliefs of people with short attention spans, a Coach just doesn't go into a team and win it all the first year. It takes time to develop. (The guy who replaced Walsh (brain fart, forgot his name) an exception but all he did was inherit the system already in place).
Mike McCarthy also understands Favre's weakness and in the 2nd year of the system, finally convinced Favre to not go for it all, take it a little bit at a time, and throw the "kill" shot when they're not expecting it. Thus, you have dink, dink, dink, BOMB. It works, and Favre excelled last year because of it. Favre was also really good at placing the ball exactly where it should be on the timing routes, thus enabling our WRs to turn a 6 yard gain into a 12 yard gain. He made it look easy, but it's not. It takes precise execution to do that or else everyone would be doing that.

So, not being anti-TT here, but more like giving the credit where it's really due - MM.

As stated previously in this and hundreds of other threads, Ted Thompson went to bed the night before the Moss deal thinking he had it sewn up, NE upped the offer (slightly) overnight and Oakland jumped on it. He had no chance to up his offer.

BF had 16 seasons to bring home the Lombardi, what makes this season any different than the other 15 he didn't? A championship is not a given even if you have Brett Favre.

Randy Moss still has no ring. End of Story.

Maybe we should give the credit to Jesus for creating Adam and Eve, who had children.. Or maybe to TT's parents for having him allowing him to hire MM.

For those of you who dont believe in Jesus. We could give credit to the big bang theory for banging and creating life and Ted Thompson and MM. Seriously, where does it end 🙂

Wait, I thought Ted said we never had any interest in Moss when the whole thing came out? Wasn't that one of the things Favre cited for why he didn't trust TT, because he had been lobbying Moss?

Did Ted and Co. shape a roster that went 13-3 last season?

Have we not build pretty solid depth along the roster?

Have we done this without spending a ton in the offseason spending wars?

Aren't we in a pretty good spot going into the season with a solid team?

IMO, yes on all accounts and that there is the premise of credit that was being given in this article.. no single manager in sports is flawless.. we lost out on players in the past and will probably do so in the future.. but one can hardly say we don't have more wins than losses on the roster front from the very first day Ted and Crew walked into Green Bay.

This front office is far from prefect and you can nit pick the losses if you choose.. but at the end of the day, we are a far better team today than we were in the 04 or 05 season.. without breaking the bank to do so.
