I actually laughed out loud, thank you.

Football in the end boils down to the fundamentals of the game.. guys that execute the assignment laid in front of them.. that there is old school to me.

We see talented players being moved around and fail due to not being able to master the fundamentals of the scheme a team adapts.. you have to find players that fit your scheme, have the heart to drive themselves daily and can conform to their role upon a team. It has been that way from day one in the game of football to today..

Moss has been thrown around in this thread.. Moss didn't buy into the system in Oakland and they didn't use him effectively either.. and he was like a boulder in a beautiful lawn.. he didn't fit. But in New England, they are using him effectively and he has bought in.. no guarantees that he would have had the same impact here.. none.

If building a solid team from top to bottom is old school.. old school still wins the NFL. It isn't about money, names or fame.. it is about showing up on Sundays and knocking the tar out of the opposite jersey.. that there is old school.. and it wins over the course of time.

Old school mentality prevented us from getting randy moss and winning a superbowl last year, got rid of the best player the franchise has ever seen and is going with a virtual rookie into a season where we should be making another superbowl push. Not For Long and good luck getting another job once you're canned.

Forgetting that he turned a 4-12 team into a 13-3 team?
He did get rid of Favre, who is turning 39 and wasn't the most important part of this team. From what I remember, Favre had a season where he threw 20 TD's with 29 INT's. Only until Thompson surrounded him with huge playmakers such as Jennings, Jones, and Grant, then Favre didn't suck. Also, only 1 Quarterback ever at least 39 years of age has ever taken a team to the playoffs. Young inexperienced QB's however have proved they can do something when talent is around them (Ben Roethlisberger, Phillip Rivers). And believe me, this team is very talented. You should just accept the fact thatTed Thompsonis a great GM, and because of him this team will compete for many years to come. No way is he ever going to get canned.

Also, we don't have to witness those embarrassing Playoff game ending interceptions Favre loves to throw.

How many times are we going to hang it on Favre? Did he not throw a game WINNING pass in the Bronco game? How about the KC game? His play is a main reason we were in the playoffs to begin with. Furthermore, if Harris could cover someone taller than himself, we wouldn't have been in OT to begin with. Favre did enough to win the game in regulation, the defense didn't.

Here we go again!

The blame it all on Favre mentality when McCarthy was severely outcoached by Tom Coughlin and not one of TT's "potentially" talented players showed up for that game. One of Wolf's did, however. It was Donald Driver.

If we had Randy :pottytrain2: Moss, it's very possible that he would have made a play for a TD in that game and the Pack would have been in the Superbowl.

It's real convenient to try and blame one player for that game, but it's nowhere near accurate. Football is a team game, and when your offensive line, RB, WR's, defense, and coaches don't show up to play and win, it's kind of hard to do so.

I wish people really understood the game of football.

"cm_awesome" wrote:

Oh I'm not saying everyone showed up. Our whole team should have done alot better with the exception of a few. However, like it or not, it was Favre's error which ultimately sealed our fate.

If Ruvell Martin could have caught that ball that was right in his hands we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Also, if Al Harris could have stopped Plaxico at least once instead of being raped by him over and over--same story. etc. etc.

Anyway........the NE Patriots DID have Randy (the allmighty) Moss, right? And they have Tom "Terrific" Brady, right?
Did THEY win the Super Bowl last year?
I believe the answer is NOOOOOOOOOO!
So just having Moss didn't guarentee anything as i see it. Had they WON the SB, maybe you could use that argument to your advantage. But they had him, and a GREAT team, and STILL lost the SB.

I agree with you, Harris stunk the whole place up. And I do give Favre props on those SEASON game winning Touchdowns. I was jumping up in down with excitement. But when it came to the PLAYOFFS, Favre ended our season. If noone is open, throw the damn ball away, don't just throw it up in the air. Was he assuming that Tynes would just miss another kick?

You honestly believe that Rodgers won't bring this team to the playoffs?

I should remind you, that 30 other GMs dropped the ball on Randy Moss as well. You see, I prefer to deal in FACTS. The trade value for Randy Moss -- right, wrong, or indifferent -- was a fourth round pick. NO teams offered a first day pick. NONE. Not even New England. When the Pack tried to pull the trigger they didn't have the bargaining power because New England had a better fourth round pick. But, hey, you're probably right. Ted Thompson is a terrible GM and should be fired. Smart.

"Gravedigga" wrote:

You deal in FACTS ?? Moss wanted to play for a couple of teams, Packers or Patriots. he was not going to detroit. Nice facts, try again. Ted Thompson was too dumb to see the value of Moss on a contender. The guy's days are numbered if the Packers dont win at least 7 games.

20 TD's and 29 ints after Ted Thompson got rid of his lineman and other players along with having huge injury issues and Ted Thompson replacing players with arena league clowns. But yea, blame it on Favre.

Also, you said 4-12 to 13-3 was TT's doing. Lets see how great of a record this team has at the end of this season to really judge Tt's performance. I'm guessing it will be much closer to 4-12 .

Exactly!

Not having Moss had nothing to do with it. We should have been in the Superbowl, but Favre's stupid wreckless throws prevented that from happening.
