BTW...

Of all the QBs that have come out since 2004.

Jay Cutler, Jason Campbell, Vince Young, JP Losman, Trent Edwards, Brody Croyle, Alex Smith(does he even't count now?), JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Tavaris Jackson, Ingle Martin,
Briah Brohm, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Chad Henne, John David Booty, Matt Leinart, Matt Guiterrez,
Kyle Orton..etc etc....

I'd pick Aaron over all of those QBs. I've said that since 05. Now you see why.

I predict that Aaron Rodgers and Jay Cutler will be meeting each other in superbowl duels in years to come...

Dunno man.. Flacco and Ryan I may take over A-Rod.. Sanchez is looking to be pretty good for a rookie, too.

For what reason would you take Flacco and Ryan over Rodgers?

Is it the wins? (team game)

Is it the stats? (unlikely; Rodgers holds most of the good ones)

Is it the leadership? (Rodgers seems to have the full respect of his team)

Is it the fact that Rodgers is simply the Packers QB?

Flacco went into a system that is NOT friendly for a QB. And succeeded. Even after many vets went their to kill their careers.

Ryan went to a team that was HORRIBLE.

Rodgers, while very much a stud, has to have good stats; because he never had any sort of the run games Flacco/Ryan have/had.

I don't have stats to support why I feel the way I do.. Again, I don't know who'd I'd take between the three.. I really like Flacco, though.

I'm really fond of Mark Sanchez myself. Although he hasn't gotten to as good a start as the other two, I loved hearing stories of his diligence in being a professional QB and what that takes.

Ryan, with the help of Michael Turner, completely turned it around for the Falcons. Even if he never excels after this season, Falcons fans would do well not to forget how Ryan dragged them out of the dumps after the Vick fiasco.

I don't know much about Flacco, I don't pay attention to much of what Baltimore does. But I think Ryan is measurably better than Flacco.

I don't agree that Rodgers has to have good stats; given that the Packers have no run game and no offensive line, it's VERY easy to assume that a 1st year, and now 2nd year, starting QB is going to struggle when the game is put on his shoulders to get offensive yardage. Rodgers has good stats because Rodgers IS good. Granted, the WRs on the Packers are arguably better. But Rodgers can either throw it downfield or he can't. He can either read the blitz and get it away or he can't. He can either hit his WR in the chest with accuracy and power or he can't.

Here are some situational stats in case you're interested, Formo.

I think Mike McCarthy made Rodgers into what he has become. Ted Thompson hired Mike McCarthy pretty much to bring Rodgers along.
Also, Matt Ryan has struggled the past couple games.

This year, Ryan has been good. Not too shabby, but not outstanding either in a year when we have a lot of outstanding QBs. Since Turner has been less than stellar, defenses can focus on Ryan and give him a hard time.

Now, our RBs can suck and Aaron would still be stellar. I'd take Aaron.

This isn't at all a homer pick either. I already said in another thread that if MVP voting happened today, Brees would win, P Manning would be in 2nd, and Brett Favre in 3rd (yeah, I know, all QBs - how lame). Aaron would be in the top 10. Ryan wouldn't. And of course the top 3 QBs were drafted before the past 4 years.

Not knocking Ryan, I'm just saying Aaron's a better QB.
