I guess this is what happens when there is a logjam at one position.

As long as Barnett and Chillar stay healthy, nothing is likely to change, and barring a stunning turn of events, Hawk also might not have much of a future with the Packers. His base salary next season is $4.1 million, which no team would pay for a part-time inside linebacker. That means the Packers either will release him or ask him to take a huge pay cut and release him if he refuses.

The Packers have some depth with Desmond Bishop, who has been only a special teams player after standing out at inside linebacker in the preseason. If they re-sign Chillar, who will be a free agent after the season, theyll have three viable players for two inside spots even without Hawk.

"It has no reflection on (Hawk's) play, it has no reflection on is a guy playing better than another guy, like Chillar and Barnett in those combinations," Moss said.

That's EXACTLY what it means. Moss who are you kidding?

The problem has been that against the Minnesota Vikings and the Lions, the game plans called for the Packers to be in nickel much more than base. And the Packers clearly prefer Brandon Chillar and Nick Barnett in that situation.

I found that part funny seeing we were playing to stop the run against the Vikes i don't remember much nickel and why would we play nickel so much against the Lions when their main weapon was the running back?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

+1 good call. I know when they played the Vikings they had 25 men in the box. Against the Lions I thought they went back and forth a little more.
If I am not mistaking GB has a run stop scheme when they are in nickle. Most likely that is what they were using against the Lions.

I really hope he decides to take a pay cut. Regardless, if his numbers are going down, as was shown in another thread. We are playing a 3-4 which requires different execution than last year, so I expected him to get less tackles with another linebacker in there. Even with the change in defense Hawk is a very talented player on our defense but maybe just not a $4.1 mil player.

Since the regular season started, we have been playing nickle somewhere between 50-75% of the snaps on defense. When you see us with 2 down Dline. That is essentially the nickle. Just because we do it against 1st and 10 to stop the run doesn't change that it is a nickle formation.

We have been using it more than anything else all season. My guess is to keep more speed on the field.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Why should he take a pay cut? Packers don't need him, trade him or release him, there are 31 other teams out there, many I bet would love to have AJ Hawk. At his current salary.

He gets 9 plays because of the scheme The Packers decide to play, I guess that makes him a bust!!!

Way to go Ted another #1 pick you wasted, let's see that makes you pretty much 1 for 5.
Time to get another GM, one who can draft quality players in the first round.

Hell even AROD has a losing record, maybe I should adjust that to 0-5.

TED THOMPSON MUST GO, HE HAS NO CLUE WHAT HE IS DOING!!!!

Technically Ted has only had 4 1st round picks and if you thinnk Aaron is a bust despite his record you are crazy.
Further more there is no way you can label Raji a bust this is his 1st year.
So your whole post while it is mean, it is actually meaningless.

Edit- carp I was on the phone and forgot 2 1st this year. Matthews i anything but a bust.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
