We actually need to stop overreacting... the 2 teams we lost to are a combined 9-1.. Its a long season boys.

Thompson's lack of effort in free agency has nothing to do with ego or fame. If what some say is true, Thompson would've cut Favre after 05 when it would've been a much easier move, and got rid of the likes of Donald Driver, Al Harris, Chad Clifton, Mark Tauscher, Cullen Jenkins and so on along with him. There are plenty of Wolf and even a few Sherman holdovers on this team.

If anything, Thompson is way to reserve to want the spotlight. He has an ego because everyone does, but it's no more massive than anyone else running an organization today nor anyone that the Packers could hire to replace him. If you're looking to root for teams with no egos, you're watching the wrong sport.

Ever stop and think that it has nothing to do with ego or fame and that his philosophy is just a flawed one?

I'd hardly call Mike Sherman an egomaniac, but he was a lousy GM.

As far as Tony Dungy. Who wouldn't be for it? The most important question is this.....

Would Tony Dungy be for it?

I doubt it. He doesn't need the money and he's already going to the Hall of Fame one day. He doesn't need to do anything more. I would chalk this up to just another pipe dream. Although I would hope I'm wrong and I think it's great that Packer fans dream big.

I don't know if that's plenty. But, I think five are starters, so five out of 22...

It's plenty enough IMO.

If Thompson was an egomaniac hell bent on stealing the glory from everyone then there wouldn't be even one or two. Why risk it and since his ego is so big and he wants the fame, he might as well go all in and get rid of Driver, Harris, Barnett, Kampman, Clifton, Tauscher, Wells, and Jenkins. He also extended some of them. Why extend them?

Eight players whom are significant players including Tauscher over this span as well. Not to mention Favre, Bubba Franks, Corey Williams, and KGB over the years he's been here. You factor that in + the fact that he's laid back and he seems to not like talking to the press or did at first and you get anyone but someone seeking fame IMO.

Fame and egomaniac are not the right words to describe this guy.

I want someone that will spit fire and call his team out if they mess up. I say lets trade some draft picks for Singletary :)

What's funny is that everyone on here, including myself, seem to be posting under the impression that our opinions about the team and management are actually significant. We post like it will have an effect in some way. "Hey look here Packers, it's TONY DUNGY." "Hey Packers, you are going to rally this year because of THESE REASONS." Really, what you post is what you get from it. To the posters who are negative about the team/management, congratulations! Your prize is marinating in your own negative posts. Good luck fighting off the optimism in other posts. It truly is a battle. To the posters who are hopeful/idealistic about the team/management, congratulations! Your prize is a continuing fight to focus on the good in an imperfect world. Good luck fighting off the negativity in other posts. It truly is a battle.

Firing Mike McCarthy, hiring Dungy, seeing who Dungy wants to keep or toss from the coaching staff as well as seeing who he can bring in to fill out his coaching staff, and then seeing how it progresses over a period of about 5 years would be pretty interesting. Better or worse, I don't know. He always struck me as a technician coach. I would laugh my ass off the first time I heard him talk technique like "pad level" in a press conference.

Sorry for the rant, just curious whuy his name hasn't popped up yet.

"millertime" wrote:

I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but Dungy's been pretty adamant that he doesn't want to coach again. As in he's said flat-out that he doesn't have any interest in coaching again. Not "at this time", but ever.

That would be my guess as to why he's not been mentioned.

I wasn't saying he was fame-o-tard or ego-tard or anything. I just was curious as to your comment. You said plenty, I thought it was less than ten, and less than ten out of a 50 plus roster is not plenty. However, when you consider that 5 of those 8 are starters, that's plenty. Just my thought though.

Well, you got to think that anyone from Wolf regime is in the mid-30s by now. That's why they aren't on our team, not because of TT.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
