I think this is a matter of Rouse being unreliable as hell. Sure, bigby isnt much better, but Rouse has never in his career been healthy to start for more than 3 games in a row. He gets one start here and is injured again? I think they are just cutting they're losses on the guy.

Do i think its a great move for next sunday? No... Could it be a good long-term move? Yeah, i think so, give a roster spot to a player who doesn't get injured every time he has a chance to contribute.

When speaking of injury prone players, does Justin Harrell come to mind?!?
I was shocked with the Smith cut....now i'm just flat @$$ worried about the sanity of Ted Thompson.

"earthquake" wrote:

I THINK they are keeping Harrell because they have to pay him through this year anyway. And IF the guy makes it through training camp and preseason, he MIGHT be able to make the team. If he self destructs, as he has so far, he will be cut. In other words, they have NOTHING to lose in keeping him. He's not taking a roster spot.

Well I think Packers are more comfortable with Tramon Williams. He has stepped up his game lately and has been a decent player. Rouse has lack of awareness as stated already, and the guy can't stay healthy. Let's see what happens against the RAMS. My main concern is not the D right now its the O LINE.

lol some jus can't let it go ... Smith was cut, move on. He's a back up on the worst team in the NFL right now. let. it. go.

Thank you. I know he made some plays in preseason and I'll admit I was impressed. But if he can't crack the starting lineup on that team, why are we all so convinced he was our answer in GB? Does not make sense.

You guys are exaggerating. I don't think anyone thought that Smith was "the answer." Many of us just believe that he was much better depth then Rouse, Bush, and rushing to sign people off the street that have no experience in our system, and some with no NFL experience in the 3-4. Just doesn't make any sense.

You can say "get over it" all you want. But until we start playing at least a little better and winning more games, it's going to be very hard to "get over" obvious mistakes, in my opinion.

Or just another reason to piss and moan about management instead of looking for current events on the Packers to discuss.

I remember thinking that Rouse was going to challenge for a starting spot at the beginning of last season. Unfortunately, it was not to be.

Dude, WTF?? Are you serious? Do you have ANY clue what you're talking about? I have been a MM and Ted Thompson supporter since the beginning. Do not use that rhetoric on me. It's not going to work. I do not look for reasons to slam our management team. However, when I do see things that I personally think our mistakes, I call them out. I'm not going to blindly follow them.

And as far as looking for current events to discuss, how is discussing the current state of our safety position not relevant? So, we're conversing on an internet forum, yet to reference any actions made a few months ago is prohibited? That's BS. Actions made over the past couple months directly affect where the Packers are at today, making them very relevant.

Let's see, better not talk at all about the Cincy game huh, since that's done, gone, and over with? Makes perfect sense. NOT.

Like I said, if we start showing significant improvement, then I'm sure I'll have much better things to ponder and / or discuss. However, when we lay an egg like we did last week, I'm going to discuss actions that I think contributed to getting us there.

I don't think Rouse is necessarily completely gone. Meredith just got signed off our practice squad meaning we have a spot free. I'm not saying Rouse will get signed to our PS but someone is going to be.

Also, I doubt we'd start Giordano in the first game after we sign him. I'd expect Bush and Martin but who knows.

We already signed tackle Dane Randolph to replace Meredith on the PS, so we're filled up again.

Yeah, I imagine Rouse will get picked up and will not clear waivers. He's a decent guy. I liked him. Not as a starter but as decent depth. If he clears waivers I hope we clear a space on the practice squad for him for sure!

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
