Ok how about our offensive line? Why was Preston picked up? It was because he could play all the positions on the line. Look what they are doing now moving players around to fill in the holes. Lets move a guy from his best position to a spot hes ok at and fill in his spot with someone that is average.



I seen people talk that there was no safteys available, i bring up someone i said i would love to see in Green Bay and that was Jimmy Leonard because he played in the Baltimore defense and i believe he would have been our starter.

During week one where Woodson was well out of position and the ball was thrown easily over him.. it happens.. the trick is not to make a habit of it. Sorry, I just didn't see Smith blowing assignment after assignment as some seem to suggest..

I am not claiming the Smith was the best thing since sliced [strike]toast[/strike] bread.. I am saying he made this team deeper than it is now.. nothing more.

When making up a final roster.. sure there is some considerations to be made for special teams, but I don't think you weaken your core units to accomplish that.

Unless they were counting on Bush more so as a corner.. but would you feel confident with Bush playing on the island? Neither would I.

I've jumped on Woodson for mistakes before and he's one of my favorite players in the NFL. Not sure where that was going.

I think one would be hard pressed to say that Smith's Pro's outweighed his Con's especially when trying to compare that to ... CHARLES FREAKING WOODSON??? lol Not a good comparison. (yeah i'm bias with woodson wont sugar coat that one)

Remember 55sandman's report? Not assignment sure, not as good on special teams as others and that rumor ... seems likely to me. As has been documented, I don't think the coach's dislike for Smith is the chief reason he's gone, but I wouldn't doubt it played a role. "I dont like the guy, he's out of position, not solid on special teams, let him go". I can see that as what happened.

I'll say it again. I'd have rather kept Smith than Bush. Not sure how I can make that more clear. With that it was a mistake to let him go. If you recall I wanted Smith to replace Bigby because I have no faith in Bigby lasting a season. He came on strong at the END of '07, that's it. He takes lots of risks and often times gets screwed.

I should update one of those >'s...
Smith > Bigby = Never. (IF both are healthy)

From a fan's standpoint, I think it was wrong to keep Bush, period. I'd rather have kept Smith.

From a fan's standpoint looking at how management could have been thinking, I can see why they let Smith go and I don't consider it a mistake at the time of the decision.

It doesn't take any balls to say it was a mistake now that we have Collins, Bigby and Rouse dinged up. Heck, even I'd hang my set out in the wind on that one!! lol

(anyone notice we yet again are having a lengthy discussion over a player who was cut? lol)

My point.. every secondary personnel will make a mistake here and there.. it happens so to point to one mistake in the preseason, one where he recovered and say that is validation to be cut is a mistake. BTW.. Smith made more than one play in the preseason right. ;)

End of the day... I think cutting talent with two players ahead of Smith on the depth chart are already nicked up was an oversight.. especially if you are now fearful to play the the guy (Bush) that was kept instead.

Anyway.. water over the damn.. next contest, come on down, you are on the Price is... who are we kidding we are mildly desperate to get someone ready in case another one goes down.

Speaking of which.. Breno better be active this week or cut his ass in place of someone that you have enough faith in to be active.

I think the old adage, "You don't lose your starting job due to injury" is bullshit, plain and simple. I think that's an excellent reason to lose your starting job.

I'm comfortable with Collins. That's the only safety on our team I can say that about.
