It wasn't that Benson was running anything but straight downhill with power.. most NFL backs can accomplish that when needed.
Three things stuck out at me when I rewatched the tape.
One, for as good of a job the OLB did at turning the plays back inside in the opener, they got equally pinned inside to easily in this game.
Especially Kampman, this has been something I noticed through preseason and the first two games.. he is having a hard time getting off the initial contact that the blocker is providing.. this is one area I didn't think he would struggle, as he used his hands so well from the down position, but he is getting swallowed up to easily yet.. Tight ends are giving him trouble.. something you never seen from him coming out of a down position. Something he and Greene need to get corrected..
Two, our inside backers got absolutely handled in one on one blocking match ups all day long. Throttled, especially Mr Twitter "chirpee" himself. He danced backwards three times that I counted.. like he was protecting the backside of the defense when in reality he was avoiding contact. If I was Winston Moss or Capers, he would have gotten the hook. So freaking what if he might be a slight improvement in pass defense.. he was a liability where they were gutting us.. I am not convinced he is ready or a better option than Chillar or Bishop at this point of his rehab.
Three... when Bush entered the game.. he was tardy in filling the edge.. this is a hidden loss from the deletion of the safety position.. all I have to say is thank goodness Woodson plays the run as well as he does.. other wise tact on 5 to 10 yards per carry out side.
