I honestly never get really hyped up for the free agent period in the NFL. Ted Thompson has molded my thought process that way and I am okay with that. For some reason, with Steven Jackson, I really ended up getting my hopes up. Like badly...
Yeah, our scheme sucks and our offensive line is considered average (1 or 2 changes and this is set), but a workhorse like Steven Jackson taking hand offs from Rodgers just sounded so....right. It made me think about the possibilities not only in the run game, but the passing game. The threat of Jackson in the backfield alone would make defenses have to play to him instead of sitting the safeties deep every play.
I trust in Ted, I really do. I am willing to trust him on this one as well. I already see a ton of Packers fans (not on here) jumping off cliffs because Jackson was not signed. I will not jump off the cliff...not yet.
This was pretty close to my reaction upon seeing Jackson signed to the Falcons.
