Did the Vikings do anything on offense that impressed you Sunday?

Harvin looks like he can do it all.. but when you only throw the ball over 6 yards 4 times, there is something amiss with the offense with a legend at QB.

They wore down the Browns in the second half.. but color me skeptical that they have the answer to a balanced offense on the field currently.

A lot of the boys (and girls) over at P.P.O. believe that their game, coupled with our game, seems to indicate to them that they are most definitely the team to beat in the NFC north. How amazing.

When I get a chance, I'm gonna head down to that "Trash the Pack" thread they got going, specifically to the one referencing our preseason. It would appear that the same posters that were completely discounting our pre-season victory against the Browns because of "how badly the Browns suck"...well, amazingly, the same critical thinkers seem to be impressed with themselves over having beaten that very same team. Like I said, amazing.

I say they have o-line problems. I say they have real trouble if they get behind teams. They will be very, very hard to beat as a front-runner, but that will be someone else's problem, not the Green Bay Packers.

Like I'm not biased in my own right.

We just might have the perfect defense to take them down several pegs in the old arrogance department. AD and the other guy are formidable, but my bet is that they wind up having to rely on Barney more than they anticipate, and in our case, watch out... I think we know how to pick off passes from that geezer. It almost seems like we are built for it.

Imagine that.

AP impressed me but he always does.

They beat a mediocre browns team that kept up with them through the first half. The browns dont really have any offensive weapons. I believe their only touchdowns were a kick return and td late in the game that didn't mean much.

Favre looked decent, but it looks like hes just gunna be throwing check down passes all year. Well at least until peterson is ineffective.

A game against the browns isn't a very good scale for measuring how a team looks 🙂. But overall they looked decent.

They did not impress me once and I watched the entire game. Adrian Peterson had flash to his game (thank you for the 37.8 fantasy points :thumbright: ) and broke a few huge runs, but that is pretty much it.

Their offensive line blew up a couple of times and the Browns stopped Peterson and Taylor behind the line. Eh hem....the offensive line gave up FOUR sacks to the lowly Browns.

I do not think the Vikings are the team to beat and quite honestly, it is pathetic that people are even making that prediction after 1 game.....against the LOL Browns.

We could've beaten the Bears 7 - 50 and they could've lost against the Browns 3 - 24 and they still would've been the team to beat.

Anyway, I liked their game. They played fairly well. They couldn't get any seperation at all between them and the lowly Browns, though, for nearly the entire game. It was a lot closer than the score implies.

Where the Bears are supposed to be contenders for the NFC North crown and have been picked to go .500 more than a few times, the Browns are a cupcake team who should be happy if they win 4.

I'm just sayin'.

I said yes ...

I was impressed with their D; especially their front 4; their secondary isnt too bad either.

Their Oline combined with their running backs but obviously AP. What a machine.

Farve was pretty cool but I can tell hes a bit rusty and doesnt know his players that well yet.

They still got a nice team this year.

As far as them being the better team this year in the NFC north ... hmmm Chicago is much better then the browns. Although you cant get much worse then 4 INT lol ... poor cutler got taught whats it like to play the packers as a bear.

It's hard to say after the game.

I watched both games yesterday, and Favre and his receivers had serious communication problems. He's probably regretting not playing that last game in the preseason.

AP, unless Tom Brady proves me wrong, is the best player in the NFL. If you hadn't seen his 3rd TD run, go to www.nfl.com/videos and check it out. He was unstoppable in the 2nd half, running consistently for over 5 yards a carry and getting first downs after 2 rushes.

The Browns often showed 7 in the box, as they must have overestimated Favre. I don't think other teams will make that mistake.

Things I noticed about Favre:
1) He throws bullets still,
2) He goes down with a single touch. As bad as it was on the Jets, it's even worse now,
3) He's not at all in touch with his receivers. This will change as the season goes on,
4) The Vikings will limit his throws and you'll see TJ come in a lot in the 4th Q when Vikings have leads.

The Vikings' Achilles' heel though is their STs. In a close game against them, we may be able to beat with with a PR or KR TD. Guarantee they'll allow at least 4 this year. They looked bad yesterday.

Favre - I was very disappointed in seeing him simply forfeit a play. He seen the blitzer come in and instead of side stepping, moving up, something, he threw his legs out and dropped. No spin, nothing ...

Peterson - WOW, a freaking man-beast playing with babies in strollers. He scares me. Peterson impressed me, not the Vikings.

Watch THIS  to see the play of the week.

They looked like the same team last year and that's not going to win them the Super Bowl because Green Bay and yes Chicago are going to be better as well as other teams across the NFC and NFL.

I voted yes though. Harvin looked a lot better than I thought.

Really, Minnesota's first test is the Packers. They should be 3-0 when GB comes to the Metrodome. It's going to be tough to figure them out until then.

Eh. Peterson impressed me a bit.. but then again, you have to expect that type of performance against the Browns. I don't like their play calling (lack of a downfield pass game, etc) all that much.. But it seemed to improve in the 2nd half. Maybe that's because they realized the Browns were actually stopping their run game for the most part.. Who knows. Favre did what he was brought in to do.. Be effective with the ball. Still would like to see more downfield plays, though. I actually expected more from Harvin.. although maybe I shouldn't have. I'm super glad he got his first TD in his first game. Last rookie Viking WR to do that was Moss.

Harvin looks like he can do it all.. but when you only throw the ball over 6 yards 4 times, there is something amiss with the offense with a legend at QB.

The thing that all these analysts are saying is the timing and chemistry between Favre and his WRs. I'm just glad the Vikes have 3 easy first games to get that timing down. As soon as they learn each other's tendencies and such.. That offense could be more effective.

They wore down the Browns in the second half.. but color me skeptical that they have the answer to a balanced offense on the field currently.

That offense will become balanced when it needs to be. People need to remember that this team is still Adrian Peterson's team (even Favre's presser said that). Favre wasn't brought in to sling the back downfield every pass play. He was brought in to manage the game (and maybe bring in some sort of semblance of clock management). That's exactly what he did. And when needed in the 2nd half of the game to make some 3rd and long throws, Favre did.

They couldn't get any seperation at all between them and the lowly Browns, though, for nearly the entire game. It was a lot closer than the score implies.

The first half the Vikings and Brown executed at the same level. The second half, the Vikings woke up. 2nd half, the game wasn't even close. The score my imply it was, but that's not always an indicator.. Watch how they played. The obvious better team won, and even though it probably should have been won by a bigger margin.. it was the first game of the year. These games tend to be sloppy (i.e. Bears @ Packers last night).
